Kobold Press Announces 'Cozy' RPG Riverbank

Well, @Marc Radle. If you’re going to be that way, I may have to do these things.

And in the meantime, Hamlet’s Hit Points is just sitting there.

Kobold Press Announces 'Cozy' RPG Riverbank

I guess the obvious response to all f this is “So what?” Most people don’t buy any RPG. The question is whether there’s enough interested people to make this viable, and there’s evidence that it is. Regency-era RPGs and supplements have sold decently this last decade. The kind of fantasy this...

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Pineapples are way more ductile than most people know. C.S. Lewis, “Learning in War-Time”: Plausible reasons have never been lacking for putting off all merely cultural activities until some imminent danger has been averted or some crying injustice put right. But humanity long ago chose to...

QuestWorlds is coming—who else is hyped?

I love and share your enthusiasm, @Horacio. And with the ORC licensing, I can go ahead and commit to using it without worrying that stuff I want will have to drop out of sight the way Nameless Streets and Book of Glorious Joy had to. @Wolfpack48 , agreed on all of those. QuestWorlds is fun to...

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Why change now? We’re warmed up, we’re rehearsed, we’re ready to do it again like a Broadway hit!

QuestWorlds is coming—who else is hyped?

In QW, the answer to both probably defaults to the GM, but a lot depends on how the player and GM choose to set the stakes. If the player’s goal is something like “a complete traversal of this cave reveals confirmation of my theory that the Lemurians are the worst litterbugs ever”, and the...

Warhammer Fantasy The Old World RPG (TOW) is not WFRP Revised

They say converting to the prior system will mostly be a matter of adding a 0. Same set of stats. And so on. I have a much higher bar for complete difference.

QuestWorlds is coming—who else is hyped?

    It is in the book, though, and the SRD, and lists of publishers and games that use ORC, and so on. I suspect Chaosium figures thst it’s not interesting enough to gamers at large to mention in ad copy, and that people actually interested in ORC will be looking at resources like those;

QuestWorlds is coming—who else is hyped?

Um. Fair warning: I’m likely to enthuse a lot as I go. Feel free to ask, publicly or privately, to tone it down if it’s too much. I am by lifelong temperament an enthusiast for the shinies of the moment, and have deliberately cultivated a tendency to go on more about what I like than what I...

QuestWorlds is coming—who else is hyped?

This passage hits on something that’s become really important to my gaming: Not every struggle or progression is best approached as a conflict. There can be resistance without anything that’s really antagonism. Lots of challenges are conflicts, of course, and some things that aren’t innately...

Epic/High fantasy game for a one-shot introductory game

Soulbound is on my list of games I dreamed of/wished for as a teen. I’d present a select version of the backstory: a universe before this one blew up, some forces survived, loose alliances of Order, Death, and Destruction all face off against Chaos, show them pictures and zoom in on the ones...

QuestWorlds is coming—who else is hyped?

I’m in the process of reading it now and feeling like this was money well spent. I am pondering how best to handle it for solo play. The fact that the game calls for a lot fewer rolls per unit of play time than many games makes this much less urgent than for many games, fortunately.
