D&D Movie/TV Netflix Planning Forgotten Realms D&D TV Show With Stranger Things Producer

Netflix is also notorious for cancelling a show after one season - even when it's a hit.

AtG Howling Crag (5e PBP) IC

We'll have to see. It's not quite as easy as "I fly recon." There's barely any topsoil, and most of it is bunched up in cracks and under rocks. There's some on the flat between the peaks, but even most of that is covered in shale and gravel. Much of it quite large. No, most of the area is solid...

Assault on Dragonspear (5e PBP) OOC (Full)

Maybe if you' d had her attend the meeting where you find what the whole thing is about? It's not my sole responsibility to "break her dispassion", but fine, whatever. Take care of yourself.

AtG Howling Crag (5e PBP) IC

A mile southwest of Howling Crag ~6am on Starday, 27 Patchwall, 576cy. Through various divinations, Gimlak had observed the Howling Crag during the night: Its great gates to the east were guarded day and night by two stone giants, with the trail leading up to the gates lined with enormous...

    D&D 5E (2024) I have a Monster Manual. AMA!

IME the DMG is the easiest one to get the Alt Cover for. I'm not sure why, or if it is different in your neck of the woods.

magic the gathering Netflix series taps Terry Matalas as new showrunner

Ever notice that "X Fan" has become a term that means "someone who hates everything new that ever emerges from property X"? I wouldn't worry about what MtG "fans" might think - I'd worry about making a show that people who both have or have not played MtG will want to watch.

    D&D 5E (2024) Where to next, WotC?

Yeah, and for someone who likes a lot of empty space for them to fill-in themselves, WotC could also, on the other side, bring back a points-of-light setting (whether 4e's Nerath, or something else).

    D&D 5E (2024) Where to next, WotC?

I'm 100% with you on that. I almost wrote about it in the "What would you do if you got the worldbuilder job"-thread. I think that a fully detailed smaller setting is what we're currently lacking. I'd rather have a really well fleshed out Island, as you say, than another big but...

    D&D 5E (2024) Where to next, WotC?

I know you added that (general) to the you, but I think I probably represent some demographic (how large, who knows). I would LOVE to see Dark Sun. I enjoyed Dark Sun back when it first came out, and I enjoyed playing it in 4e, too. And I'd like to play a new version (not to mention sell it)...

Wizards of the Coast Is Hiring a D&D Worldbuilder

You're taking the one time I mentioned "winning" too strongly - my whole point was meant to achieve the opposite (that it's not a big deal and it doesn't really matter). I understand now that you were just interested in it as an intellectual exercise, which I have no issue with. But if you...

D&D 5E (2024) Wrapping up first 2-20 2024 campaign this week, some of my thoughts

The lesson I'm taking from this thread, not that I needed it, is "Don't give your PCs dozens of magic items, and don't let them spam-take the 'good' ones". Easily learned, thanks!

Wizards of the Coast Is Hiring a D&D Worldbuilder

Now you're speaking my language. I guess I can engage - a little - on this subject after all. (Sigh!) It's true that all of Radiant Citadel's adventures take place on different worlds. Would they count as different settings? Not fully fleshed-out ones, no. But enticing starts, perhaps. The way...

D&D 5E (2024) Anyone Else Find It Interesting How Different The Approaches to Setting Books Is Between 5e & 5.5e?

It's not just that - those books are still in print, and they want to keep selling them without having to do any work to "replace" them. They want to be additive. I don't think that it's a big direction change for them (maybe a small one, though) - it's just "time".

Wizards of the Coast Is Hiring a D&D Worldbuilder

Sure. Fine. It's not a big deal. I think I mentioned: It's not particularly important to me. ... And here we have the: "What actually counts as a setting?" argument, which will make this circle forever if we jump down this rabbit-hole. True. Witchlight might not be a setting, but the Domains...

Wizards of the Coast Is Hiring a D&D Worldbuilder

I really, really, really, don't want to get into this silly oneupmanship with you, but if you're going to include micro-settings from 2e, you're going to find that there are several of those in 5e as well. But whatever. Pedant your way to victory if it means so much to you. As @Dire Bare points...

Wizards of the Coast Is Hiring a D&D Worldbuilder

I beg to differ. 5e may not have those 3, but 2e did not have Eberron, Exandria, Theres, or Ravnuca. "Objectively" 5e already has more settings than 2e. Is it missing some good ones? Sure! I'd love to see the three you mention. If you do too, maybe don't argue with my post where I explain...

Wizards of the Coast Is Hiring a D&D Worldbuilder

The problem was that they had too many competing lines. Sure, those lines were built around campaign settings, but (as you'll see by the list of what came out for 2e) the problem was really that there were too many books - and that they put out books for their various lines (campaign settings)...

Wizards of the Coast Is Hiring a D&D Worldbuilder

I'd love to do a job like this, but I'd have to take a paycut AND move to the USA, for the only job that I can imagine that actually has less job security than owning a Comic and Game Store!
