I want to roll my dice!

Note: Each step up of a die is equivalent to +1 average damage. So monster doing 1d6+5 can be changed to 1d12+2 without messing anything up.

Using Eberron in Other RPG Systems

Well it sort of depends on what system is being used. I'd try to keep just about everything.

What do people play more of nowadays?

I play 4e the most. Although, I can't say it's the one I'm most interested in.

Interesting criticism I found about us "RPG guys".

You know, in my experience, it's generally the people doing the criticizing that cause flame wars, either by insulting people who like the product or making statements that are exaggeration at best and outright lies at worst.

    Dealing With Prisoners

In my campaign non-lethal damage has to be announced before the attack (I'm a softie on this though) and if it doesn't do enough damage to knock the enemy out it deals half damage. This makes capturing someone realistically difficult in my opinion. Once someone is captured I try and have them...

Big Bang Theory and the Dungeon Master's Guide

Yeah, the reason is, anybody going to the trouble of getting into a studio audience is already a big fan of the show. Then you take the normal laughter increasing effect of a big crowd and you get all the laughter that takes place on the show.

    Plot-related combats--or not?!

Basically, plot related combats mean that they aren't random encounters as far as I'm concerned. I mean plots can vary widely, stop the scheming courtier is as much a plot as stop the orcish horde but they imply vastly different levels of combat.

Oots 0727 - And It Will Never Work Again

Because he wants to spend time with Elan at the festival. Implied good purpose at least.

[Ari Marmell's blog] To House Rule or Not to House Rule

Hit points are an abstraction, they do not represent actual wounds your character has received in battle. A player might have no scratches at 3/4 health, a nasty cut on his arm when he gets knocked back to half, same status at 1/4, and then when he hits zero someone pegs him with an arrow in...

    Immediate Reaction Now?

I would definitely allow it. Allies can pass through your square. Enemies cannot. This clearly indicates to me that it's up to you whether to allow someone through your square. And I also have issues with realism at certain levels. Sure I can imagine a medium sized creature stopping...

[Ari Marmell's blog] To House Rule or Not to House Rule

Well let's see, I run a 4e D&D game that's been going for over a year now. I simply haven't felt the need to houserule the system much at all, but I do have some. -When a multiclass feat grants you a skill you already have it counts as skill focus for that skill. -Expertise feats for free...

    Accepting spell buffs (physical transmutations)

I'm guessing they didn't want to recalculate all their stats.

Why is flight considered a game breaker?

Like what exactly? (mainly with regards to the non isolated combat encounter area, just curious) Plenty of monsters have either no ranged attack or a ranged attack that is much weaker then the melee attack. Yes low ceilings can solve this, but with flight you just can't have melee focused...

Mike, Make the Feywild book next or I drop the bag of holding into the portable hole!

What will Masterplan be after the C&D?

I'm pretty sure it was already brought up in this thread, but data mining the compendium is something that's been not okay since the very start according to WotC. Now honestly, I have a pretty low regard for what exactly companies may want in general, but I can't say I'm shocked or angry that...

    Moral Gray Areas...

This is how things should go for the smoothest game possible. DM: Hey guys, I've got this neat concept for a game where you guys are working for a mob boss. Players: Sounds neat. DM: Of course this closes off some character concepts. You'll all be people working for a mob boss not heroes...

Player costuming, props etc in "table top" games.

I dunno, I don't think I would dress up for a game normally, there's too much time spent out of character. Also I have no sort of costume and am way too lazy/cheap to make one.

    need animal themed reward...

How about symbolic gifts. Fast animals might get a burst of speed power or static speed increase. Strong animals something involving damage. Hard to make suggestions without knowing what animals were involved.
