    I think the biggest change was with regard to items. With items with charges, scrolls, and uses per day items gone it reduces that resource management.

    Yeah. I suggest letting players know the starting situation, preferably at the start of character creation. I really suggest making characters together as a group. Have people make ties to the other characters, the DMG2 suggest one major positive tie and one very minor negative tie.

    Solid-Liquid-Gas Now, every substance has a point where it turns into a liquid and a point where it turns into a gas. So yes, if it moves like a liquid, then it's a liquid.

    Swords, Axes, and Hammers I'd all allow with question. Other weapons I would require it to be asked for for thematic reasons and not a min/maxing reason.

    Just say the beholder blasting everyone (including presumably the paladin) with eye rays counts as a single multi attack.' Only for it's aura like ability, so there's some damage being spread around but most of it is focused on the paladin.
