No one's trying my message? Aww... ;)

How many humanoid species are cross-breedable in your campaign?

They can all crossbreed. However, one of the two parental lineages takes precedence. So you can play a Half-Orc/Half-gnome, but you only get the racial benefits of either Orc or gnome.

DM as Facilitator or as Adversary?

Facilatator, no question about it. I'm reminded of Shemmeska's story hour where I've seen quite a few people ask Shemmie why his players keep playing in such a dark campaign where evil always seems to have the upper hand and what the players thought were great victories on their part turn out...

    Comic Con San Diego

I wish I could go. Unfortunately I'm stuck in Los Alamos until late August doing work at the labs. :-( Roll some dice for me!

Sci-Fi gamers: what's the RPG you use / prefer

I love, and have had great success with, d20 Modern/Future. Note that this is with my own custom vehicle/equipment construction rules. I do wish it came with better starship combat rules though...

How many homebrew adventures have you written?

I've never actually writen up adventures I create in a module-style format. That said, I've run upwards of two dozen "adventures" for various groups, and I've only once tried to run a module. I hated the module. I absolutely, positively hated it. Now, that's probably not because of the...

    Character Gimmicks For Niche Protection

Interesting categories. However, you only identify magic with artillery/heavy weapons and healing. Where does the diviner/support specialist fall into place? For example, a cleric with low str/con might choose to stay back and support the party with his large number of buffing spells.

Puzzle-lovers unite ... Puzzle haters ignore.

Another thing to consider is the use of both cryptography and steganography (steganography being the art of hiding a message, rather than encrypting it; more info can be found on wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steganography). I've attached an example message that is hidden with...

    A damsel in distress!

Of course it's a Succubus. Only succubi are kept in dungeons. Damsels are all kept in towers. Unless the succubus also happens to be posing as the damsel from a well known merchant family, and has been doing so (through the guise of shape changing magic) since the real princess was killed...

    have players submit plot hooks?

I've never actually asked the players to generate plot hooks for me. I have to side with Lord Pendragon with believing doing so would ruin the surprise of the campaign. That said, the "local rumour sheet" idea sounds fantastic, and definitely something I'm going to have to try. One thing I...

No problem. I have a few of their dice myself, and they're absolutely beautiful.

CSI: Sharn (Help create 100 corpses)

    138. You come to. Your vision slowly returns from black to leave you staring up at an unfamiliar ceiling. A man dressed to be the local constable opens the door and leads in another member of your adventuring party. As you try to sit up, you hear the officer telling your friend about the...

And we're going to get there how?

Fantastic diologue! In fact, I really like the whole Lewis & Clarke aspect. If you decide to go down that line, do check out the journals of Lewis & Clarke which you should be able to find in any Borders or Barnes & Noble (or similar large bookstore). It's a very interesting read, and you can...

Q-Workshop makes fantastic dice, but they're on the expensive side.

What makes a Campaign setting Interesting to You?

What do you mean by this? The idea sounds very interesting, but I must admit to being a bit confused. Do you mean a single, underlying plot that connects everything in the setting? Something else?

What makes a Campaign setting Interesting to You?

I won't run a campaign in an established setting. I don't even run modules. There's just something about it that doesn't work for me. I'm one of those DMs that has to create the world/adventure himself. That said, I love campaign setting books. At least, I love campaign setting books with...

    Creepy...

The best session I've ever run was for a d20 modern game that was somewhere in between the X-Files and Military Special Forces. The players were tracking down covert weapons shipments from the Soviet Union (alt history where the Berlin Wall never fell and the USSR gained further power) and they...

A Fae secret worth killing over?

I really like this idea. In fact, this is a fantastic idea. It'll fit in perfectly! Thanks Pendragon! Hrm... I've heard good things about Faeries before, and for only $5 I may definitely have to check that out.
