Hmm, if a commoner traveling from point A to point B has a 10% chance of getting hurt, robbed or killed, then it is plenty of darkness for me already. I have no problem with well-guarded merchant caravans making the trip safely 99,9% of the time.

Why does PoL mean equilibrium all across the world? Why not only PoL in the place/time of the campaign? I.e. kingdom ravaged by war, border setting, natural disaster etc. Heroic adventurers could save a PoL town while the new king strengthens the country as a whole to make it a blob of light...

IMC magic isn't something thats arbitrarily forced over the world, it´s part of it. Every item, material, shape, person etc. has it´s own magic radiance that can affect spells, especialy if combined. I.e. certain gems cut in certain shapes start vibrating if exposed to certain schools of magic...

I recommend any racebook (Strenght&Honor, Fury in the Wasteland, Elves&Bugbears, Gnome&Kobolds, Dark Elves) as well as Secret of the Alubelok Coast as crunch-light fluff-heavy great sourcebooks. Even the races I`m normaly not interested in got me hooked after reading the books ;)
