    Anyone playing NetHack?

Bah, Angband! Nethack? Nethack? I'd have to say that ZAngband is much more addicting: www.thangorodrim.net :D Actually, having played both, they are both equally addicting. It's a wonder I ever made it through any school whatso ever.

How many bands have some song about Cthulhu?

Not Completely Cthulhu, but.. Payne's Grey--Kadath Decoded Great Atmospheric CD. Very Lovecraftian in the vocals, and the progressive stylings of the music.

    The new Battlestar

Yeah, I hung through that part. I thought once you got past that, it was decent. There wasn't much character development, but it did an adequate job of plotting and keeping things interesting once you got past the gratuitous sex scenes *blech*. Still not sure what to make of the camera...

    Interest in a Detroit Gameday?

I might be interested in attending (from Ann Arbor), and I bet I could drag a couple of friends along as well. Let me ask around.

    Mac Users Identify Yourselves!

Pantherized Count me in. name: jhallum Place: Ann Arbor, MI I've had a 15" TI-book through work since March, and I really like it a lot. It does everything I need through work, but sadly, I can't use it for much more than game development. I'd really like a good gaming tool for the Mac...

Famine, plague, war and the end of the world.

Swan Song Have you read Swan Song by Robert McCammon? It's a pretty dark fantasy type end of the world book. It was written in 1987 (I must've read this book for the first time when I was 17 or so, when it first came out). I just recently picked up a used copy of Swan Song, and read it for...

How Do You Divide Up The Plunder?

Bwahaha We have the most arbitrary treasure distributing, depending upon the group we play in. Particularly, one of the players in our group hates "socialist" treasure distribution schemes, so in general, we've done share-based treasure distribution, capitalist-based distribution (my...

    [Piazo/Dungeon/Poly]Change of Address

They are actually quite responsive When I switched my subscription address in March, it took them maybe one issue to find me, so I didn't miss any issues. Very responsive on the phone. I am quite pleased with Paizo.

[Tornado Warning} OKC just hit again!!

I saw my first funnel cloud here in Ann Arbor last weekend from the storms that went through Michigan last Monday. There was a tornado warning at the time, but we were not in the storm's path. It didn't touch ground, but it was a majestic, and dangerous thing to witness.

    Smallville "Witness" 4-29-03 [SPOILERS]

    1. My bet is Lionel. There's a lot of odd things going around Smallville. Chloe's friend Clark appears to be at the middle of most of it. Best get on the investigative reporter's good side. It's a win-win situation for him. 2. No, I think that the bad guy has a secret, too--the distilled...

    [Miracles] anyone else annoyed?

It's especially disappointing.... Because the episode this week was quite good. They are really moving the plot along early in this show. There has been what, one or two monster of the week shows now, and two or three plot advancing shows. That's an interesting ratio in a show in its first...

    Smallville 2-25-03-cooooooooool

let me just be the first to say---Wow! Plot twist-o-rama! Certainly added some spice to the series, don't you think? What did everyone think of the major plot twist of this particular version of the Superman milieu? It will be fun to see where they take it. I hope they can do it justice.

    Anyone else been watching Miracles?

If you haven't, and you like suspenseful TV, this might be something up your alley. I've been fairly impressed by it so far. It's not anything extremely groundbreaking, but it's fun to watch. Skeet Ulrich plays Paul Callan, an ex-Vatican investigator who lost his faith in the Church (but not...

    tome of horrers

The Tracker mod. I remember that module. We went through that mini-adventure about ten years ago, when it was first release. It was my first game, (before I ever saw a hint of any DM material), and the appearance of the Slithering Tracker was so damn cool. Great module, wish I had it! Which...

    I do / don't like George R.R. Martin's Song of Ice & Fire series

I like the books, but a buddy of mine doesn't I love the Martin series, but a buddy of mine doesn't. He is a Federal Law Enforcement officer, and as he deals with strange folk all day, he didn't like the characterizations in the book--too close to home, I think. I think when he got the first...

new Steven Erikson - House of Chains (minor spoilers, kinda long)

Anyone here read the newest Steven Erikson book, House of Chains? I just got done with it, and I liked it. It's not as good as Deadhouse Gates(2nd book), or Memories of Ice(3rd book), I'd place it about as good as Gardens of the Moon(1st book). For those who don't know about Erikson's Books...

[OT] Upon watching PJ butcher another's work.

See, I don't agree that Faramir is consumed with lust for the ring, at least in the same way that his brother was, anyway. Faramir looked at the ring as a weapon of war to be used against the shadow, not as a means of personal power. He could have taken the ring from Frodo by force at any...
