Wow, absolutely wow... I am still having a hard time seeing rituals not tied to a power source though. A cleric casting magic mouth or wizards raising dead etc..

So, as long as someone has the Ritual Caster feat and appropriate skills, you could cast any of the rituals on the list as long as it's same or below your level? so a fighter with that feat and religion skill could cast a raise dead ritual?

Like I stated before, the fluff of the powers is the way to go for me. Much easier to handle and incorporate into narrative gameplay. Now I am trying to convince my friends to give 4th ed another try, instad of looking at it as a purely miniature based game...

If someone does some power that heals me and makes me use a healing surge, do I actually subtract one from my daily allocation? And if I ran out of healing surges for that day, nobody can heal me anymore, even with a potion?

Yeah, there is an issue of realism for martial exploits. If u cast a spell that draws people towards you so that you can kill them, we see it as magical logic. But if a fighter who draws people nearer, presumably using taunts etc, we see it as logical. Whats not logical is that he only can do...

Methinks the words: healing, damage, cure, hit points, wounds etc should be revamped. There is another thread about the bard and some guy mentioning that the bard heals you.. That just sounded wrong..

AD&D was complex COMPARED to 0D&D and BECMI... but not to 3e or 4e. Magic the Gathering has beginner, intermediate and expert cards back in the days and now they just make expert cards as the standard... Yeap, as the edition number go higher and higher, people will assume that its getting...

Yeap, its the brand name that they slapped on this rpg that they made. Should have called it D&D: Evolution like Star Wars Saga edition or something along those lines..maybe it wouldn't have that much threads discussing about 4th and more threads about the fun of playing a new game..

Maybe WOTC should make all classes generic and call them DEFENDERS, STRIKERS etc, then provide powers for them and people to reflavour them as they wish. Sort of like a d20 modern cousin.. For me, reflavouring is reserved as a last resort for character concepts. I will play 4th ed RAW and wait...

I think what 3e or 4e lacks are those adventures that become classic. 3e had maybe a few including adventure paths, but not so memorable unlike B2 or T-14...
