D&D 5E (2024) Split the Players Handbook into two books: Lower Tiers and Upper Tiers

I’d be okay with this. With a soft-cover option. Preferably digest-sized.

D&D General What's the DC for a fighter to heal their ally with a prayer?

If ever there was a time for deus ex machina in a game, that’s it. Edit: Or an unmodified coin-flip.

    She-Hulk: Attorney at Law trailer

We saw Wong return him to his cell in Shang Chi. Presumably the same way he got out: through a portal. Also, I’m pretty sure it was established that those fights were live-streamed.

Iron DM 2022 Is Upon Us! Sign-Ups and Scheduling!

2010 was an anomaly. Most tourneys were 8 slots, right from the very beginning. I suspect the very quickest to fill up was the first, which only had 1-hour matches. I do remember that the first one I judged (Summer 2003) filled up in half an hour.

Eastern time zone, here. Probably best to start in the mornings. At least, on the weekdays.

Iron DM 2022 Is Upon Us! Sign-Ups and Scheduling!

Yeah, it’s almost like the old days, when we had to announce the recruitment ahead of time to give everyone a chance to be online when it started.

RPG Evolution - True Tales from Stranger Things: The Satanic Panic Comes to School

The kinds of things I heard leveled against the game during high school (in the mid-90s rural Tennessee), weren’t really refutable: D&D may not have taught witchcraft, but it insidiously encouraged it. Or, even more nebulously, playing (and reading) it gave power to demons, whether the players...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 PHB Race discussion

It took nearly fifty years, but D&D is finally treating half-elves exactly the same way that Tolkien did!

[+] The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power - SPOILERS ALLOWED

I would argue that it wasn’t so much that he wasn’t good at it, but rather that he didn’t view it as the important part of his stories and thus deliberately chose not to emphasize it.

Not able to access ENWorld for days

I got that exact message today as well. Not sure what’s up, though. I frequently (of late) lose all connection to the internet (but not wifi) for a while. Sometimes rebooting my phone fixes it. Rebooting the modem always does, but it’s a pretty inconvenient fix.

[+] The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power - SPOILERS ALLOWED

This divide is especially evident in the Battle of the Five Armies. Tolkien had his point-of-view character unconscious through most of it. Jackson turned it into a whole overly-long, bloated, and frankly nonsensical war-movie.

[+] The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power - SPOILERS ALLOWED

I suspect Tolkien would view them both as disappointingly divergent, but at least the content of this series will presumably have to be approved by the Tolkien Estate, whereas Jackson’s films didn’t. We got lucky that the Lord of the Rings movies were done with love and mostly explored the...
