Brom's Cover Art For Modiphius' Upcoming CONAN RPG

According to the Modiphius site, the game is officially licensed through Paradox Entertainment's subsidiary Conan Properties International. Paradox's claim to ownership seems a bit dubious, but I don't know if anyone is really challenging them on it.

The 10 Most Anticipated Tabletop RPGs Of 2016 Are....

Unfortunately, the free Mutant Chronicles quick-start, which is where I was able to get a gander at the system, has been removed from OBS now that the full game is out. You could try signing up for Conan updates here. I'm pretty sure that's why I've been receiving the electronic playtest...

The 10 Most Anticipated Tabletop RPGs Of 2016 Are....

Out of curiosity, has anyone been using the playtest rules and adventures for the Conan RPG? I wasn't super impressed with the 2D20 system upon reading it, but I suppose it might play better than it reads. I am disappointed Crypts & Things Remastered didn't make the cut. From the one game of...

D&D's Lead Increases; Stars Without Number Surges In Latest Orr Group Report

I was about to ask if it gave an ascending AC variant the way White Star does, but looking at the free rules, I see that it would throw the combat system out of whack. 1d20 + target's AC + combat skill + attribute modifier + attack bonus seems a bit more complicated than it needs to be. Not that...

D&D's Lead Increases; Stars Without Number Surges In Latest Orr Group Report

It sounds kind of like it's a bit more focused on hard sci-fi than White Star, which is a lot more space opera. It can also do cyberpunk and such, but it really feels a lot more geared toward Star Wars with the serial numbers filed off. I would definitely like to try out Stars Without Number at...

D&D's Lead Increases; Stars Without Number Surges In Latest Orr Group Report

I've never played Stars Without Number; all I know is that it's an OSR sci-fi game. Can anyone tell me how it compares (or doesn't) with White Star?

Your most anticipated games of 2016?

Is it that they don't allow it or that the licensing fees are higher than what international publishers are willing to pay?

Your most anticipated games of 2016?

I'd been curious what the system would be like. I know some of the folks who worked on Marvel Heroic are part of the design team, so I'd wondered if it might resemble that in any way. I'll probably give it a pass, though. Between BASH! UE and Supers! ReD, I don't think I need another superhero...

Your most anticipated games of 2016?

As an addendum, if Chris Rutkowsky releases another volume of Awesome Powers for BASH! Ultimate Edition, that is also high on my list of anticipated releases.

They're free no matter how you get them, but they were previously only available to people who officially signed up to be dungeon masters for D&D Encounters.

DRAGON+ Issue 5 Brings News of a New D&D Boardgame, Sage Advice, and SCL Tabletop Stats

Ah! Found it! I scrolled through the table of contents too quickly and didn't realize it was included with Tavern Tales! Thanks for the heads-up!

D&D 5E (2014) [Primeval Thule] House rules for spellcasting

Ah. Gotcha. Sure I can limit classes so that warlocks are the only spellcasters, but it doesn't really give the effect I'm looking for. If, for example, I wanted something like Crypts & Things' white/grey/black magic, I'd have to go through the entire warlock spell list, divide them up, and...

D&D 5E (2014) [Primeval Thule] House rules for spellcasting

I think you make some excellent points, I'm A Banana, but I do have to agree with Hussar. First, while it's true that Sasquatch wasn't forced into making the game what it ended up being, I do think that they might have decided to go with what would be most easily funded on Kickstarter. In that...

D&D 5E (2014) [Primeval Thule] House rules for spellcasting

I was hoping for something that would actually make Primeval Thule feel like the sword and sorcery subgenre in terms of mechanics rather than just setting fluff. (Crypts & Things' rules for magic are pretty fantastic in this regard, making magic dangerous to the caster and adding in the...

D&D 5E (2014) [Primeval Thule] House rules for spellcasting

Welp, the GM guide is out now, and it disappoints as well. Some nifty monsters, I guess, but not much in the way of optional rules. It certainly doesn't address my problems with the lack of guidance for altering the magic system for the setting. I suppose I'll just continue to wait impatiently...

D&D 5E (2014) [Primeval Thule] House rules for spellcasting

The more I've looked through Primeval Thule, the more I'm disappointed in it for the very reasons discussed in this thread. While I think a lot of the setting fluff is great, it doesn't try to alter the mechanics much at all to reflect the sword and sorcery subgenre. This is especially apparent...
