Open locks, take 10 or 20?

IIRC, taking 20 means you accept the results of a 1-20 in order. so really if a PC takes 20 they roll a 1 for results of openlock. If a roll of 1 would set it off then, yeah, let 'em do it (they'll learn eventually to take 20 on searches first ;) )

    Can you Jump when Levitating?

This reminds me of a thread I saw earlier: If you have a decanter of endless water you could use it as reliable propulsion (on geyser mode).

    That sinking feeling..

As I belive it: Water has a pretty high density (for a fluid anyway) of 1000kg/m^3 air has a density of 1.29 kg/m^3. Cutnell and Johnson 3rd ed. I think that no matter how much armor a char is wearing (unless they have the strength to wear armor made of hydrodynamic ton weighing things) they...

    High Jump

I understand why a long jump requires 20ft of movement before attempt (or DC penalty applies), but say a character wants to jump up and grab something overhead, like a tree branch? Do characters need 20ft of movement to get the height listed on the tables for high jump (I am aware that the SRD...

Do You Prefer a Humanocentric RPG Setting?

I like humanocentric settings, however, nobody in my group does. I have always played Halflings because I can understand them from the blurb of culture the PHB provides so I have no problem with that. The reason I prefer humanocentric settings is because that is a human's only strength: they...

    Lost Season Finale

Don't Brazilians speak portugese? I know they were a colony of Portugal, and Portugese is the official language of Brazil. I don't mean to be rude, but I split hairs about this kind of stuff ;) from all of the "Where are they?" hulabaloo, unless they are WAY off course, they are in the South...

    Lost Season Finale

I had to ask my physics professor about this as soon as I saw the computer in the hatch... Aparently a magnetic field can be redirected if it is surrounded by a ferromagnetic material (ie iron, steel, nickel, cobalt, and some weird alloys). It works because the magnetic field would much rather...

    Improved Bull Rush, Improved Overrun

My paladin took trample. Kind of like Imp. overrun in that enemies can't dodge, plus using his mount (which is a size category larger than him) he gets a defact +4 to the attempt.

    Lost (5/17 SPOILERS!!!)

I don't want to sound like one of the many pessimistic LOST haters, but I do have a question that perhaps on of you fine posters can answer: How was Michael able to find his way using a compass? The fact that there is a huge Magnetic field being generated near his point of origin, how can he...

    Cultivating Poison Components

Thanks, I'll bring it up with my DM. I will miss being able to obtain 7 doses of poison from one encounter though ;)

    Cultivating Poison Components

Arg! I had to make a new account just to post to this. I am the player in question, and the short of the situation is: Our group will never encounter a means to buy poisons, or the components for that matter. We came across a few monsters in the dungeon and we noticed they used poisons as part...
