D&D 5E (2014) Alchemical Savant and Greenflame Blade

They are always mentioned separately in the spell description (edit: in Tasha's), so I would say they are separate rolls.

D&D 5E (2014) Alchemical Savant and Greenflame Blade

At fifth level both the melee attack and the second target take fire damage. That's also where the rolls start. So it could apply to either.

    D&D General other possible elements?

Wood, Flesh, Fungus, and Spirit. The thing is, you have to think about the why of the elements. Are they the basic things all matter is made of? Are they basic agents of all action? I did the above four based on the basic building blocks of life. But if you like wood, figure out a why that...

D&D 5E (2014) Alchemical Savant and Greenflame Blade

I would allow it if you had two hands free (one for the supplies and one for the melee weapon). However, green flame blade has two rolls: the target hit with the weapon, and the second target hit by the green flame. Alchemical Savant on applies to one roll, so you would have to choose which roll...

I am surprised by the number of DMs on this board that I would absolutely not want to play with.

D&D 5E (2014) House ruling away bonus actions?

I think you'd have to ban multi-classing. I mean, war domain cleric and rogue? Attack, twf attack, bonus action attack, healing word, disengage/dash? At 3rd level? And how would you treat spiritual weapon? Is that limited by the one bonus action attack rule?

D&D 5E (2014) House ruling away bonus actions?

I feel this could be abused. First of all, rogue/wizard with two weapon fighting could be pretty nasty. Second of all, most classes give a bonus action for something, as I learned in a campaign where you couldn't take more than six levels in any one class. Someone could multi-class a few times...

D&D General Who “owns” a PC after the player stops using them?

It depends. I had a PC who was left for dead, but wasn't actually dead. Furthermore, they had lycanthropy that hadn't manifested yet. Privately I asked the player if it was okay if I used them as an NPC, and how they would react to the situation. So they had veto on the character becoming an...

I like how people ask why X is happening, without giving any evidence that X is actually happening.

I'm Opening a Game Store this Saturday

I noticed that tonight when I came by for board gaming. It was nice. Usually I'm like, "Is this the right street? Oh, yeah, there's the tattoo parlor. How far past the tattoo parlor are they?" Tonight was just "Hey, there's the game store."

Social Skills in RPGs (Alternative Title: Persuasion is Not Mind Control)

There are ways they can find out things about the NPC, like insight checks from talking to them or investigation checks to track down information on them. Then they give me their spiel (what they say to the guy, allowing for third person roleplay if they want). If they effectively use what they...

I don't know what is up with you people. I like corn on pizza, it's not as weird as pineapple or anchovies.

Technology is not the problem, protecting creators is

Is that really viable? It's been a while since I worked with neural networks, but when I did you needed a fair amount of data to train them. Is a single artist going to be able to produce enough data?

    D&D 5E (2024) Do you plan to adopt D&D5.5One2024Redux?

I doubt it. I'm working on alternate rules I might use, and I'm not in the mood to give WotC money these days. So if I even get the books, I'm going to have to wait until I can get them used.

You know, I'm not normally a fan of multicolored dice. But those are done extremely well.
