Sure.

It's not just about CR or desert elves or wet goblins. It's about a broad spread of multiple types of monsters over multiple categories.

Is Tome of Beasts III out? I honestly don't know if I have it or not...there's an empty spot on the shelf where it would be, but I don't think I have it.... I'll have to look for the 13th Age ones. Thanks

More. Unquestionably more. Sometimes I play "can you make a campaign/setting" with monster books. Does the book have a good mix of high and low level monsters? Does it have playable and/or civilized races? Etc etc. Does it have big bad dragon level monsters? Does it have goblin level monsters...

I almost said "the personalities, I guess" in my reply above. I mean, I LOVE the Black Company. I love most of Cook's writing. But I totally understand why people can't get into it, or get fed up with it, or find it unlikable.

I'm honestly not sure what sells me on the Black Company, honestly. I love them dearly, but totally understand that other people don't.
