WotC WotC: 'Artists Must Refrain From Using AI Art Generation'

Agreed. Pretty much everything I'm working towards is with an eye towards giving my daughter a solid foundation and some ongoing security after I'm gone (no time soon, one hopes). Which, I know my dad has the same thing in mind, but there's heavy touches of what I can only call baby boomer...

WotC WotC: 'Artists Must Refrain From Using AI Art Generation'

Well, I appreciate being asked post de facto. Short version: I think we'll see policy (economic, legal) changes before things approach mad max levels. I don't think AI will be banned, and I don't think it'll be universally adopted. I think it'll be required to be identifiable and AI's will be...

WotC WotC: 'Artists Must Refrain From Using AI Art Generation'

"Since the majority of people need to work to survive" was the quote. It was a specific quote from a specific person. I was looking for clarification on their thoughts. Then you jumped in, and either you can follow the chain (it's got like two steps) or not. And right there, we disagree. That's...

Not just roll over and die, for one. Why 70%? Source for that?

WotC WotC: 'Artists Must Refrain From Using AI Art Generation'

Sorry, explain how that'll work? The mass death etc etc part, not the regulations part.

WotC WotC: 'Artists Must Refrain From Using AI Art Generation'

Wait, so the conclusion is that AI proliferation will lead to mass unemployment, mass death, and the overall destruction of society?

What are you reading in 2023?

OK, 250 pages is like...nothing. And yeah, that's just...ugh. So...do you recommend the other two books? :)

What are you reading in 2023?

Having read The Expanse, Discworld, and most of the TM trilogy...yes. I'm unsure about New Sun. I might have, but it was a long time ago.

What are you reading in 2023?

I'm reading Apocalypse Cow right now and, um...it's a little more...um.... It's kinda gross. And...y'know, I think I just ran into something I can't/won't put into words. I'm not sure that it's bad, but there are some very...unsavory elements. This is not the light-hearted zombie cow...

What are you reading in 2023?

Read Adrian Tchaikovsky's Lords of Creation, book 3 in his Final Architecture trilogy. As usual, it's...fine. Something about his writing leaves me cold. Interesting ideas, well written, but somehow not fully engaging.

What are you reading in 2023?

I think I read most of it back around HS. I grew up kinda remote, with no tv and quite a few books around. I was not, however, ever desperate enough to read Mary, Queen of Scots by Antonia Fraser, a book that continues to lurk on my dad's bookshelves.

What are you reading in 2023?

I think it was a staple of American literature in schools for a few decades. It's also an accessible work from when American literature was really just starting to pull away and form its own identity, so if you want something kinda cool for people to read by a early American author, the list is...

What are you reading in 2023?

I was in another reading slump again, then found Children of Memory (Adrian Tchaikovsky), the sequel to Children of Time and Children of Ruin, in a bookstore a couple weeks ago. Read that; happened by another store and got Shards of Earth (same author). Also decided to reread Glen Cook's Dread...
