    The Expanse

I read the books, and just reread them in the past month. Frankly, The Expanse is one of the best adaptations I've ever seen. The books are excellent, and the show is, in many ways, even better.

    The Expanse

We've lost satellites in Earth orbit, and Planet X is hiding pretty well. I'm not sweating stealth ships in space. :D

    The Expanse

This has unquestionably hit "must-watch" status for me. It's SF done about as right as can be done. It's incredible.

    Just saw Logan (spoilers)

I've seen it twice now. - There are no (known) plans to do anything with the mutant kids & X-23. The X-Men movies timeline is all kinds of crazy, and Logan seems to have dealt with it by ignoring it and telling the story they wanted to tell. Which I absolutely think was the right call, except...

What are you reading? [March 2017]

2/3rds of the way through it. It's not...fascinating, but pretty easy to just keep chugging along. Finished. About what you'd expect, given that the mcguffin is a bacteria "weaponized" to eat sauerkraut. I got and reread Cibola Burn - was prepared to be all caught up on The Expanse (book)...

What are you reading? [March 2017]

The story behind the Ferris Wheel is pretty awesome. That's what I remember.

What are you reading? [March 2017]

Yeah, but no one gets freaked out by a crappy book. ;)

What are you reading? [March 2017]

    I'd call that a recommendation. ;)

What are you reading? [March 2017]

The Dark Tower series can be split into two parts - pre-accident and post-accident (the accident being when SK was hit by a car while walking, and very nearly died. Took him ages to start writing again, and when he did he wanted to finish the Dark Tower series). The pre-accident books are pretty...

What are you reading? [March 2017]

This. And, particularly as he gets more into the social commentary side of things, there are very real moments where you sit back and think about how to change our world to make it better.

What are you reading? [March 2017]

Your reading list sounds a lot like my reading list. Under Heaven is great, but Bridge of Birds is permanently affixed to my best books list. Crescent Moon didn't thrill, alas. I haven't read Moving Pictures, but agree that later Prachett is better than older Prachett. I think I enjoy the biting...

What are you reading [Feb 2017]?

Try Alaistar Reynolds if you haven't yet.

What are you reading [Feb 2017]?

Shift was...different than Wool. It's been a couple years since I read it, but it wasn't bad. I'm realizing, after reading more Hugh Howey, that he doesn't stray from his tone very much, and it wears on me. (I realize I just said Shift was different, and Howey sounds the same in everything he...

What are you reading [Feb 2017]?

I finished Abaddon's Gate, and read The First Law trilogy (The Blade Itself; Before They Are Hanged; and Last Argument of Kings). Just finished Best Served Cold tonight. I could read Heroes, but honestly I'm OK with switching it up for a week or so. I'm away for work next week, and kinda want...

What are you reading [Jan 2017]?

I have City of Hawks and Sea of Dust (somewhere...I think...). You're welcome to them.

What are you reading [Jan 2017]?

    Wool is pretty amazing.

What are you reading [Jan 2017]?

I finished Beasts, by John Crowley. Not a bad book, but it never really captured me. I've been reading it on and off for months, and it's not a long book.... Also read Caliban's War, and have started Abbadon's Gate. I started The Doll's House, by MJ Arlidge, and am not going to finish it. It's...

What are you reading [Jan 2017]?

It's similar to the Ready Player One divide. I found Old Man's War pretty derivative of, and inferior to, The Forever War. The same applies to Ready Player One and Snowcrash. I might reread Old Man's War someday, but I got rid of my copy so it's not going to happen for a while.

    Opinion is divided.

What are you reading [Jan 2017]?

I liked Under Heaven, but better than Tigana? No way. In other news, I just started Nemesis Games. I thought I'd read it already from the Library, but apparently that was Cibola Burn. Edit: Finished Nemesis Games, and dug out the first 3 books from storage. I'll probably skip Leviathan's Wake...
