    Psionics--the Poll!

Psionics already are in a lot of games, but they're called magic. Magic requires a book, scroll, wand,  something to assist with casting, and of course, magic words. Psionics just require having a brain, and that's all that a lot of magic systems seem to require.

D&D 5E (2024) Psionics: What Do You Want?

A good psionicist could answer this just by reading my mind. The more spellcasting systems the merrier, provided they don't slow the game down or make it harder for the GM.

    D&D 5E (2024) Chance for a warlord?

Wailord? I really don't see much potential in a D&D/Pokemon crossover. Maybe try out Level Up's marshal: Marshal | Level Up Several other options for 5e appeared with a Duckduckgo search (see Images).

RPG Evolution: If It Kills, We Can Build It

I think it's a variation of the Because: Magic excuse, Because: Jesus. So if you don't roll high enough, the gelatinous cube gets there before you do? I treat my dungeon traps like woods traps: whoever wants to benefit from the trap has to check on it and/or reset it every so often.

What if you used a flamethrower as a snowblower?

That logic doesn't prevent leafblower use.

D&D General How do I build Crystar in D&D?

The toy. He wasn't inspiring enough to bring forward into my role-playing endeavors :(

D&D General How do I build Crystar in D&D?

I bet Bob Larkin was one of the artists. Anyway, my Crystar had one special ability: putting a cool little helm on his crystal head. I wouldn't devote a species/class to that. It would be a can of worms if I used him as an NPC, but I might let a PC get away with it.

    Most influential RPG

Hmm. If that's how we're using "influence," then I'd put 5e on the list for inspiring the O.R.C. and Creative Commons pushes.

    Most influential RPG

D&D 5th edition is just a rip off of 3rd edition, so that's a bit redundant. D&D 4th edition is single-handedly responsible for the R&D of Modos RPG, so I'd say it belongs in your list.

ISO Help For Improving Idea For Medieval Heating System

Does every home have tongs strong enough to lift the vatrokamen? And enough servants to replace those lost in the last orc raid? Why isn't the fire that's heating the vatrokamen heating the home as well?

    Dragonbane Announces Two New Books

I don't know. "We're number 1" seems to be a popular refrain. So is "low price guarantee." I don't like Roll Under because it is just more complicated than "higher is better." Suppose you have a crummy attribute of 3. Jane NPC has an epic score of 18. Any success you might roll against...

    What Good Are Spells, Anyway?

Yes; it sounds like players (and GMs) will want some context and/or examples. You'll see less inventing with more ready-made spells, yes. Do you want fast play? Fit everything (besides player notes) on the front of the character sheet. For in-depth, detailed, technical play, or just boring...

Daggerheart Review: The Duality of Robust Combat Mechanics and Freeform Narrative

Well? Don't leave us in suspense! Player improv/feeding ideas to the GM are really great tools. However - encouraging players to name landmarks sounds like it will lead to some broken immersion: Biggroundcrack chasm, Starbucks tavern, Voldemort's mysterious tower... The frog-dude (I named...

RPG Evolution: Eat or Be Eaten

Not sure this problem is limited to the online world. I'd like to repeat the maxim here, since it relates, paraphrased: No dungeon survives first contact with players.

Different Games for the Referee and Players

This would take experienced players. Because I have to look up everything for the inexperienced ones, and there's no way I'm doing that through two or more rule books. Yeah, we get that a lot 🤓

    D&D 5E (2014) "Picto" Runes

Claire Obscur? Back in Final Fantasy 6 these were called Espers. The requirements for attribute boosts were a character level up, and the other abilities improved after a number of fights related to the power of the ability. The best ones were earned after about 100 fights.

What is/are your most recent TTRPG purchase(s)?

Six pack of Obsidian Stout. Never let your character drink alone. It adds to immersion. So far? How long was it supposed to last?
