D&D General How Often Should a PC Die in D&D 5e?

In theory, yes. In practice, no. I read of some experiences where AL was just a label and the local group just did whatever. It's like franchising in that individual owners can deviate from the rules. Also, they have to use different treasure awarding rules to account for a large shared world.

D&D General How Often Should a PC Die in D&D 5e?

Do you mean it as a good thing or a bad thing? Cause whenever someone complains that D&D can't do X, people will come out of the woodworks to say D&D can do X. If you can change D&D to suite your desires, why can't Adventurer League do the same?

D&D General How Often Should a PC Die in D&D 5e?

The reason (if my sense motive check succeeds) the OP made the thread was to understand how deadly people wanted D&D to be. While most here can adjust it to their liking, some can't or won't. Some people round these parts complained that PCs never die. The DM wanted a deadlier game but that 5E...

    D&D General Let's celebrate D&D having things we don't like! (+)

Listen, you shouldn't just name things. Consider adding context on why the thing you don't like is good. PRAISE it.

    D&D General Let's celebrate D&D having things we don't like! (+)

D&D is the game for everyone, so there's something for everyone! That means they'll be things we don't like, but that's a good thing we should celebrate! So let's have a topic where we praise the things we personally don't like about D&D! I'll start. I hate the fact WOTC doesn't purge the...

    D&D 5E (2024) You're not planning on getting 2024 D&D? Why is that?

Multiple reasons really. 1. My friends don't like 5E in general. They prefer to have more rules to interact with in general. Pathfinder served that purpose mostly. On a personal level, I think 5E would be a better fit for me right now then Pathfinder since I'm willing to trade gradualory for...

D&D General How Often Should a PC Die in D&D 5e?

It is WOTC forcing a playstyle or is it WOTC listening to the players and giving them what they want???

Advise your "friend" to take a few minutes utes to learn what D&D is. On the other hand, can't a Druid just shape-shift into a dinosaur???
