    Monster Manual: What details?

My favorite is still the invisible stalker picture in the monstrous compendiums ala 2nd edition. Hilarious.

L&L: The Challenges of High Level Play

Orcus was rewritten before Essentials came out. The game designers don't play enough at higher levels to 'gork' the math fully in 4th or 3rd. Or if they do, they're playing some very 'wussified' style characters that can't do the basics that most internet combo shots will gather in a week. The...

    Monster Manual: What details?

While this is true, for new GMs especially, having a concrete place to start is vital. The game, in my opinion, has never done enough to train people how to speak, improvise, provide descriptions, etc... I'm not saying that there have NEVER been products that do these things, but they often come...

    Monster Manual: What details?

Ha! No offense to the artists here, but when the descritpion and art don't match, somethng needs to change. I remember when they gave the mezzodaemon four arms because of some mix up and was like, "that was completely unnecessary."

    Monster Manual: What details?

One of the things I hope that the 5th ed Monster Manual does is bring back physical descriptons. The Monster Manual for 4th edition is one of the worst offenders in not providing any written details on the monsters. Sure, we have the art but once you show a picture to a player, they'll always...

the tablet war is heating up

Real question is how much money are you willing to spend? If it'su nder $300, that cuts out many android tablets and thus far I believe, all ipad tablets.

    D&D 5E (2014) Goliath/Half-Giant - A Race Suggestion for D&D Next

In The Sword of Bheleu and the series that book is a part of, there is a race of Overmen who are stronger and more hardy than normal men. The author made them in direct contrast to Elric. Ironic considering Elric's own origins as an opposite of Conan. Rolemaster had some variants for this race...

D&D 5E (2014) Hope for an open GSL?

You are not looking very hard. I don't get on top of anything these days but even I found out about Lorefinder, a d20 supplement for pathfinder that takes the Gumshoe system and makes it fit the d20 system. My FLSG has dozens of Pathfinder 3rd party books. When speaking of 'low thousands'...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Next: How Miniatures Should Fit?

Sounds like you're talking about when WoTc was using the Dungeon tiles in actual Dungeon adventurers. Yeah, that pretty much sucked donkey balls. Lazy and highly unusuful especially since they didn't provide full sized tiles you coudl print out but had to actually own those tiles to begin with...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Next: How Miniatures Should Fit?

There are some people who have a problem wit the dungeon tiles? I've used those for Rolemaster, GURPS, and of course D&D/Pathfinder so I'm trying to figure out why they could possbily be a 'bad' thing when we have so many map companies out there that it's called out on 'product marketing'.

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Next: How Miniatures Should Fit?

I was just pinging away on Twitter some things I'd like to see D&D next do with miniatures. 1. No core races that are only available as rare or very rare or not available at all without substitutions. 2. No competiting miniature game that has larger sums of cash prize money and uses roughtly...

    Iron Kindoms RPG info [updated]

I find it, in my mind at least, somewhat ironic that 4e would've probablly been a much better fit for the Iron Kingdom setting than 3e was in terms of making people on equal power levels and having things be more baseline and still have lots of fiddy bits.

D&D 5E (2014) Hope for an open GSL?

Well, I think we're going to have to agree to disagree on the whole Essentials being a new introduction/edition/pr nightmare thing and move on to other topics because this horse has been beaten and those who think it's a revision and those that don't will never agree.

    Legends and Lore for 2/13

Thaco and Weapon Tables? ha! My group loved those little player screens they came out with for each core class. Weapon tables versus AC? Man, I never used those even back in the day.

D&D 5E (2014) Hope for an open GSL?

Since I play 4e and Pathfinder how exactly does that work for me? Do I have to take a picture of my shelf with my 4e material and 3rd party 4e material (thanks Goodman and ERP for Freeport 4e) to showcase that I'm not talking out of a dark place? ;) We can say that 4e is more of a 'living'...

D&D 5E (2014) Hope for an open GSL?

I'd xp you for this again too. White Wolf is also pretty bad in this regards known for their page XX references. ANd man was Mongoose terrible. Ugh. But let's be fair here, Mongoose has long been known for their editing issues and get called to the carpet all the time for their other flaws in...

D&D 5E (2014) Hope for an open GSL?

Is this WoTC before or after they had major outcry from fans about supporting material post-Essentials and cancelling the first quarter of products last year while they quickly tried to turn the PR nightmare around?

D&D 5E (2014) Hope for an open GSL?

the 3.5 versions sold enough that we got an errata'd version of them at one point. I know I had a softcover of that book that got used all the time. and website being the same as integrated into the core book? M'eh. No? For me, going into the store and buying the PHB1, new printing, that has...
