Will 2011 be the last year of Wizards D&D?

yeah, I'm going to pretty much stay right there.

D&D in 2011: From Books to Digital

Arcane, if you choose to believe WoTC, that's cool. Me? After being told for months that updates were coming to the CB and finding out yeah, they were but not the version I prefered? Done. If you choose to pay to be a beta tester for DDI, that's cool. Me? I had a week worth of sub left and...

    Ampersand: 2011 releases officially gutted

The problem many of us may be having is that we don't believe them. ;) No, really, this time we're going to keep the books in print. It's not like when we talked about incorporating errata into the core books with reprinting and told our suppliers we weren't reprinting them and then told...

Why do you care so much about so little?

Start up some game related conversations instead of asking on an internet forum why we care so much about so little?

    Ampersand: 2011 releases officially gutted

But do we know how many people quit after ye old CB online only bits? We, as customers, have no information as to what WoTC is actually doing or what numbers they're playing with. In terms of products for example, they may be making money, but as others have said, not enough money. I expect...

D&D in 2011: From Books to Digital

I believe nothing WoTC says anymore because their plans will change with market conditions. I may change my mind when I see the PHB1 reprinted with ye old errata since they said that they will keep that book in print but until then...

    Ampersand: 2011 releases officially gutted

And how about the magic items in their new classes that were 'revolutionized' by essentials? Yeah, that's what most of us who said it was a new edition though. WoTC couldn't even follow through on their own ball game.

    Ampersand: 2011 releases officially gutted

and what type of feedback would that include from the non-ddi users? Or are they now second class citizens who WoTc will reluctantly take their money all the while tsking that these kids new to get with the ddi program?

    Death of D&D Miniatures

And yet, even if we fully accept the roleplaying market is declining, that isn't necessarily tied into miniatures. Reaper is doing licensed figures for Pathfinder. This is a new development. Premium miniature lines like Avatars of War exist to supplement Games Workshop's beast and live on its...

D&D 4E [4E Players, mainly] Ever thought of defecting to Pathfinder?

I'm not switching. I already own most of the PF stuff so if I want to play it, I'll play it. I am more interested in seeing how things progress as D&D goes more digital and other companies continue to put product on the shelf. I'll especially be curious to see if the OSR group having a table at...

    Death of D&D Miniatures

I always thought there were several reasons that the DDM figures had various issues. 1. Inconsitancy. This came in many forms. It came in the size and types of the minis. Look at the dwarves. Some are right up there with GW's little 'block' style figures. Others look like short humans. Look at...

Kind of like how the previews of upcoming material were supposed to be additional content?

    D&D Miniatures alternative.

I'm going to agree. If you're looking for prepaints with a wide variety of materials and a large secondary market, not a thing out there. If painting miniatures doesn't bother you, Mega Minis has a wide selection of older minis that should fit your needs.

    Ampersand: 2011 releases officially gutted

WoTC also said that they were going to reprint the Player's Handbook with errata. ;) Using WotC words as a method to enact persuassion, especially with their recent track record, is akin to reverse psychology.

    Ampersand: 2011 releases officially gutted

To be honest, it may not matter. BUT, as the OSR group has a booth at Gen Con, and Paizo continues to sell their core books at $9.99 PDF and in hard copy, and support the OGL, people, NEW gamers, tend to come in through print products. WoTC taking their products off the shelves for months at a...

    DDM Line Axed

Then I put you in the same bucket as myself. A miniature painter. You should join us on the old 52 Weeks, 52 Miniatures Good stuff going on there.
  18. JoeGKushner

Ok, now i'm REALLY CONFUSED. AKA, do any of you think you know what WotC is doing?

As I mentioned upstream, I think WoTC is opening themselves to Paizo. But I noticed that the OSR community is going to have a booth at Gen Con. If things aren't to the point where fans, older fans or fans who want to know what's going on or want to know that they're dealing with a company...

    DDM Line Axed

It's a shame. The 'Super Rare' didn't save the set. But then again, who, outside of WoTC, thought it possibly could? When the prices you are selling your product to more than double and the quality is variable and there is no purpose outside of the figures than the RPG because you've killed...
