[Holidays][PC] What will you be playing?

I enjoyed NWN, although SoA is a little bland. HotU was great, though. Make sure you check out the mods for NWN, a lot of great ones. Almost infinite replayability. http://nwvault.ign.com (the ads are a PITA though, and crap out on Firefox, probably because I've blocked cookies) And I dropped...

[Holidays][PC] What will you be playing?

Indeed. I just saw Thief: Deadly Shadows, which was released in 2004. I might give it a shot, since I was a big fan of the earlier incarnations. Andargor

[Holidays][PC] What will you be playing?

I've always followed the "what are you playing?" threads with interest. However, this time I'd like to know what you will be playing during the holidays. I'm looking for a PC Game, you see, and I'd like to have suggestions... Holidays for me are usually a game fest, where I stop playing as the...

SRD 3.5 Update - Browsing (HTML, CHM) and Data (XML, MySQL, MS)

Well, I decided to buy myself a christmas present: a new mobo with 4 SATA ports and 3 x 200 GB drives. RAID-5, here I come! In line with the suspenders and belt concept, I got another DVD+/-RW for that box. Of course, the offsite rsyncs will continue, but this time I'll make sure my critical...

    Protecting Troops from Fireball

Young basilisks are cheery and elder basilisks are grumpy. But they both turn you to stone, anyway. :) I wasn't particularly serious in my post, but that sure was a nice dissertation, thanks. :D Andargor

    Protecting Troops from Fireball

50 enemy cavalry appear, and charge what's left of your flank. If you bunch up to stop the charge, they veer away and the wizard fries your troops, in addition to archers which pick off targets out of formation. Of course, in D&D, it might not be effective, but in the real world... :) Oh, and...

    Ninja Spy/Commando

I'll have to check the allowed book list, but HoB might not have made it. I'm just surprised not many people have tried the Ninja. :) Andargor

    Greatsword weilding caster

What was the term used by someone else, mmm, "rat bastard evil DM"? (just kidding I2K ;) ) Personally, I don't see it any differently than casting with any two-handed weapon, such as with a quarterstaff. Taking into account every hand movement is a little too far from abstraction for my taste...

SRD 3.5 Update - Browsing (HTML, CHM) and Data (XML, MySQL, MS)

Thanks for the kind words. I avoid being depressed by realizing that there are people in the world with far more important problems to worry about than a busted car or hard disk. :) I see these things as opportunities: get a new car, get some sort of data redundancy implemented at home! On a...

SRD 3.5 Update - Browsing (HTML, CHM) and Data (XML, MySQL, MS)

The few last weeks have been... interesting (in the Chinese sense of the word). Yesterday, my development machine's power supply blew. Unfortunately, it took one of my hard disks with it into oblivion. And it so happens this is where my SRD stuff is. To top it all off, it was the only disk I...

    Deep computer games?

It might not qualify as "strategy", but rather "tactics", but I'd have to say the Fallout series is a thinking person's game, even if it's an RPG. Also, I enjoyed the Homeworld series because of the allocation of resources, 3D tactics and fleet formations. Lastly, the Thief series is pure...

    Ninja Spy/Commando

Ok, are there any sample progressions for the Ninja and Scout out there? Any suggestions on feats to make these classes useful? Andargor

    Ninja Spy/Commando

Hmm, well he'd need to be a little more Rogue-ish than the Scout. Disable Device, etc. So he's either going to be Rogue or Ninja. Andargor

    Ninja Spy/Commando

One of my players is looking for suggestions on playing a non-oriental flavored Ninja (the name of the class is misleading in that respect). Something like a commando, spy, or bodyguard. We are playing the Age of Worms adventure path, so they are in Diamond Lake. He's playing an elf, and let's...

Should undead be allowed to speak?

I answered maybe. If your DM says yes, then yes. If no, then no. Calling your DM names doesn't win points in the argument. Andargor

Grapple - Str check or not?

A grapple check is different from a Strength check. Bull Rush specifically mentions "you and the defender make opposed Strength checks". So do Charge, Overrun, and Trip mention Strength checks. Further: It's effectively a melee attack, and hence lends weight to isoChron's comment. Andargor

    GameStore Spam

I didn't even know I had an "ENGS" account, let alone known what ENGS was until this mail. I am not going to debate good practices and UCEs ad nauseam. I've already communicated my displeasure, so it should be an indication that something is unclear to users about what they are signing up for...
