D&D 5E (2024) WotC Announces April 22 Release For 2024 System Reference Documents

There is always wiggle room. Nothing they say is binding. The can say they will do it, then say the will not. What they say is irrelevant, what they do is what matters. I don't expect them to do anything about 1e, 2e, or 4e. I have only slightly higher hopes we will see the 3.0/3.5 SRD in CC.

D&D 5E (2024) WotC Announces April 22 Release For 2024 System Reference Documents

No, they said they will look into it. That was all they said. They did strongly hint they would do 3/3.5e SRD since that relatively easy to do.

D&D 5E (2024) WotC Announces April 22 Release For 2024 System Reference Documents

I seriously doubt it (4e) or 1e or 2e will get SRDs and ported to CC. To much work involved.

D&D 5E (2024) WotC Announces April 22 Release For 2024 System Reference Documents

Familiarity mostly. I know the OGL, I don't know CC. I would rather stick with what I know. Also, IIRC, it is trickier to exclude things from CC than it is the OGL.

D&D 5E (2024) WotC Announces April 22 Release For 2024 System Reference Documents

Sure, but nothing going forward is going to be released under the OGL

D&D General So what about the SRDs?

The SRD will be and the errata PDF is available now

D&D 5E (2024) WotC Announces April 22 Release For 2024 System Reference Documents

I stated in the other thread - it specifically says 5.2 and all SRDs going forward will be CC only.

D&D General So what about the SRDs?

Yes, the article is explicit about that: " All future versions of the SRD will be released exclusively under Creative Commons (CC-BY-4.0) for consistency and broader compatibility."

D&D General So what about the SRDs?

It does mention that they are only supporting CC moving forward: " All future versions of the SRD will be released exclusively under Creative Commons (CC-BY-4.0) for consistency and broader compatibility." That is the "official" answer. It is just easier to support one license to I suspect. I...

D&D 5E (2024) WotC Announces April 22 Release For 2024 System Reference Documents

To bad they are not supporting the OGL anymore. I would have preferred to continue to use the OGL. It is mute point if the put the 3e SRD in CC, but there was not mention of that.

Dragon Delves Reveals "History Of" Pages for Dragons

I guess I am the outlier! I seem to be the only one glad to see these extra pages and they are the primary reason I am buying the book!

Dragon Delves Reveals "History Of" Pages for Dragons

My guess: because it is not an "official" red dragon. It wasn't based on the 1e design or anything else really. It is a Larry Elmore dragon, not a D&D red dragon.

Dragon Delves Reveals "History Of" Pages for Dragons

I, on the other hand, only signed up for the pre-order once I found out about these extra pages on the history of dragon art. So I am happy they included it!

    D&D 5E (2024) What is compatible with 2024?

I have not found any issue with using 2014 material with 2024 material, just use what works for you. 5e14 & 5e24 are not so finely tuned that minor difference between make an difference IMO.

Five Takeaways From the 2025 Monster Manual

They most certainly can work, and better than any previous edition IMO, it is just that most are two low CR to provide an adequate challenge (in published adventures I mean, a DM can obviously do anything they want here). It obviously varies from group to group, but I find for 4 PCs a monster...

    God Rules: Players Guide (5e)

Bending rules is what D&D is all about IMO. I imagine I will bend some of your rules as well! :p

    God Rules: Players Guide (5e)

I would love to do that, but life has just gotten in the way lately. I am also waiting for UK to finish this book as a am pretty sure it will be a good jumping off point my next stab at epic monsters.
