RPG CROWDFUNDING NEWS – Tales of the Valiant, Serenissima Obscura, and more

Ya, what is intuitive is pretty subjective so it was, IMO, and odd choice of description. IMO, requiring so many rolls and resolutions for combat is not intuitive: 2 rolls (opposed) for each attack (which is modified by the number of attackers), if 1 or more "successes" you roll... A damage...

D&D 5E (2024) My Most Epic Fight in Years

Sounds like a cool fight and fun encounter. I do have one question: "...decides to switch to greater invisibility. But he still cannot move due to the fear effect, so the paladin knows exactly where he is." Does the BBEG have really low intelligence or something? This like a very odd choice...

    Pathfinder 2E Where to Kickstarter?!

I just queried this in the weekly crowdfunding thread, but thought I would ask here as well: Are there any PF2 kickstarters? I see lots for 5e, Shadowdark, Dragon's Bane, OSR games, etc., but I don't ever see any for PF2. Am I missing them or are they just not out there?

RPG CROWDFUNDING NEWS – Tales of the Valiant, Serenissima Obscura, and more

The free supplement gives you a lot to go on. I was intrigued by the idea of intuitive combat, but the mechanics sure didn't feel that way to me! Not that there is anything wrong with them, I just wouldn't describe mechanics more complex than D&D as intuitive (and I realize those are not...

RPG CROWDFUNDING NEWS – Tales of the Valiant, Serenissima Obscura, and more

Thank you for the Oath Hammer shout out. That looks very interesting. I am reviewing the free preview to see if this is something I want to back.

RPG CROWDFUNDING NEWS – Tales of the Valiant, Serenissima Obscura, and more

It is interesting that there are kickstarters for many systems (and multiple kickstarters for several systems) every week, but I rarely see any for Pathfinder 2e. @Egg Embry , I assume that is just because you don't find many/any? Curious if my perceived lack of PF2 crowdfunding is indeed the case.

D&D 5E (2024) Best 5.5 Mechanic They Should Use More IMHO

I have thought about this some and I (as DM and major houserule contributor of the group) really liked something along your suggestion in concept. So we did "playtest" using Adv/Dis and Combat Advantage (+2) from 4e shortly after we switched to 5e (so early 2015). We also tried stacking Adv/Dis...

D&D 5E (2014) Couple new Ideas, gauging interest

I like the idea of partner spells, I have been thinking about something in that vein since the 2014 MM introduced Hag covens. I also think you could have partnered martial maneuverers too. Not sure if you did that in your forthcoming martial book.

D&D 5E (2024) Best 5.5 Mechanic They Should Use More IMHO

If by "rampantly overused" you mean "used just as much as modifiers were in other editions" then I'd agree. While I don't disagree with you, I do think the game would be better served if Adv. was much more rare.

D&D 5E (2024) Best 5.5 Mechanic They Should Use More IMHO

Yes, that is what I was trying to emulate with my proposed revision to Magic Resistance in 5e.

D&D 5E (2024) Best 5.5 Mechanic They Should Use More IMHO

Yep, Archfiends typically had a good deal of MR in 1e. Demogorgon had 95%.

    D&D 5E (2014) Domains of the Valar

I might suggest Forge for Melkor too. Or whatever corresponds to making terrific monsters!

D&D 5E (2024) Best 5.5 Mechanic They Should Use More IMHO

A version of this one: post #83 With a version of this explanation: post #11 I am busy this weekend, but plan to get this updated with version 4 next week.

D&D 5E (2024) Best 5.5 Mechanic They Should Use More IMHO

Here is the thread you are referring to: Magic Resistance: What was Old is New And to answer your question I have not playtested any of the methods yet. I actually haven't even revised the OP with my preferred method derived from the discussion in the thread!

D&D 5E (2024) It Is 2025 And Save Or Suck Spells Still Suck (the fun out of the game)

I don't think it was an issue of fairness, but what is fun. No one, PC or DM, likes to do nothing for a turn. That being said, this has never really been an issue for my group (for the PCs or DM).

D&D 5E (2014) My Take on the Modron (Houserule)

That was my thought as well.

D&D 5E (2014) My Take on the Modron (Houserule)

I was really wondering why multiple modrons of the same tier can't "help" each other.
