D&D 5E (2014) My Take on the Modron (Houserule)

OK, that is not how I was understanding "swingy," but that makes sense. Follow up question: how do things like Bless or other modifiers work in the aura?

D&D 5E (2014) My Take on the Modron (Houserule)

I don't follow. If there is no die-roll, how can it be more swingy or swingy at all. It is the same on every roll. That seems like the opposite of swingy or am I missing something?

D&D 5E (2014) My Take on the Modron (Houserule)

I love the idea. My only question at this time is: why limit the group mind bonus to the higher CR modron? Is there a downside to giving any modron the benefit?

D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

I am always sad to see someone leave as well (and sometimes try to convince them to stay). I do not know who you are talking about, but I hope they find there way back. Once we realize we don't have to engage, I think the discussion becomes a lot easier.

D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

It is frustrating. I know it was a problem I have had before and worked to change. Now I generally try to take the attitude that, in most cases, people are only talking about their opinion even if they do not state that.

    D&D 5E (2024) Tiamat Unleashed

I am just about finished with updating to the 2024 CR values and I have made a few other changes too. I am just having a hard time with the revised full Primoridal dragon version of Tiamat. Once I get that nut cracked I will post the updated PDF. PS - Welcome to EnWorld!

D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

Maybe, but @Micah Sweet did say: "...makes no sense to me..." They are clearly framing it from their perspective not a universal statement. And what is or is not verisimilitudinous is subjective of course. I don't think we need to defend our personal perspectives on this subject.

D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

I'm not @Micah Sweet, but from previous conversations with them I am pretty sure that they don't want the game to tell a story at all. In their mind, I story is simply what manifests when you talk about the events of the game after the fact. So the story is a description of the events in the...

I have no idea if "Hundred Acre Hell" is any good, but the idea itself made me chuckle!

D&D 5E (2024) Using general Feats when your ability is already 20

That sounds like it could be un for a 1-shot, but I wouldn't want to run a whole campaign with a character I didn't want.

D&D 5E (2024) Using general Feats when your ability is already 20

And we play a game with no ASI (feats only) and max ability score of 18. It works just fine too.* *Actually, I think the game works better (more fun) with lower ability scores.

RPG CROWDFUNDING NEWS – World's Largest Dungeon, Cosmic Dark, Neon City Outlaws, and more

Yes and no. I've responded to similar queries about a half dozen times so I will leave it at that.

RPG CROWDFUNDING NEWS – World's Largest Dungeon, Cosmic Dark, Neon City Outlaws, and more

I mean I have been there and done that. I have been playing TTRPGs for 35+ years. It is just an issue of time. I don't have time anymore to invest in a new system. Also, there are still lots of interesting 3PP ideas for 5e and, to be honest, WotC still has some good ones too. Of course at this...

I hate those dragons (and AI dragons in general), but it is interesting that it gave the black dragon forward pointing horns

D&D 5E (2024) What Should a Psion Be Able To Do?

I understand it is a trope and I don't mind other people have pyrokenesis, it is just not what "I" would want. For my it is to far out of the concept and just makes the psion a pyromancer.

D&D 5E (2024) What Should a Psion Be Able To Do?

i agree they are popular in media. I said "I" don't see them as fundamental psion abilities. For me it is a bridge to far, but I don't mind if others think differentyl

D&D 5E (2024) Psionics: What Do You Want?

I mean no? What psions do is impossible. Telekinesis and Telepathy and everything else a psion does with the their mind is impossible. I great mind can think really hard/weel/efficiently but that is it. Generally everything a psion does is way beyond the possible. Maybe, but that doesn't fit...

D&D 5E (2024) What Should a Psion Be Able To Do?

I agree with about half of those, but I am not against people getting things I don't personally like as psionics
