Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft: An In-Depth Review

Now having the book in my hands, I am really pleased with it. The safety tools...well, I skipped over them because I play with my friends and know them well enough (to not use spiders as enemies. Like, ever ;) ) and when I run games at a convention I avoid things that I know to be minefields...

Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft: An In-Depth Review

Very cool review and I cannot wait for the book! I really like the toolkits provided and the changes to the Vistani. Kinda funny, I always played them the way they are now depicted, as people who are just trying to get by in a land where evil so often reigns supreme.

D&D 5E (2014) Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft Art Preview

shrug I don't give a damn what the books say, in my games tiefling players can make their characters look however they wish, as long as the fiendish attributes are pronounced enough to be visible unless painstakingly concealed.

Why restless? Then again, all things horror relax me and pacify my soul. I'm weird like that ;)

When is this going to come out?

Blog (A5E) Level Up Monster Preview: Green Dragon

Okay...quick question...are the advanced monsters usable even if one does not use Level up? Because I don't feel like adding more complexity to the base game but I love more in-depth monster encounters.

RPG Crowdfunding News – Iron Kingdoms, Gods of Metal, Torg Eternity, and more

Currently, the Book of Metal is free as a PDF. Alas, it's for Pathfinder, but I am having fun reading through it nonetheless. Ragnarock seems to be right up my alley.

D&D 5E (2014) Info on African folklore needed

I know and there will be a lot of leeway, of course, since there will be a lot of pulpy elements to it. But I, as a white dude, want to avoid falling into cliches.

D&D 5E (2014) Info on African folklore needed

Recently, I am working on a setting idea that would pull together many of my favourite ideas - science-fantasy, cosmic horror, pulp action, post-apokalyptic, Japanese and Norse folklore, ancient history and the Old West. The basic premise is that, sometime during the Third Crusade, a spaceship...

D&D 5E (2014) The New D&D Book: Candlekeep Mysteries: 17 Mystery Adventures [UPDATED!]

Not particularly excited about this. I already have tons of premade adventures and can easily make my own. Just like I have more than enough monsters to run entire campaigns without the players encountering the same monster twice. I really would love to see some other settings, though.

The Best Cyberpunk Game You’re Not Playing Right Now

Haven't read Neon City Overdrive yet, although I did buy the core book, skinjobs and psions. Really should check it out....been looking for a rules-lighter cyberpunk game for ages.

    D&D 5E (2014) WotC On Tasha, Race, Alignment: A Several-Year Plan

Okay, maybe I was a bit vague in what exactly I do not agree with. I was referring to how Crawford sees innate advantages as being like racist narratives. That's where I call bs. I'm not opposed to giving players more options to customize their characters further, but the reasoning behind it...

    D&D 5E (2014) WotC On Tasha, Race, Alignment: A Several-Year Plan

I am happy with the options (which they are, options, not mandatory changes), but there is this nugget from Crawford which raises my heckles. "is also uncomfortably like some of the racist narratives in the real world." Different. Species. An orc is not a dwarf. The idea of human " races" has...

Five Things I Love About Shadow Of The Demon Lord

I love the system. It's so easy to learn and explain. Most players are ready after 5 minutes or less of explaining the basics, there are tons of great adventures published and the shorter campaign length was designed with people like me in mind who do not have as much time as they used to.

RPG Crowdfunding News – Carbon 2185, Black Void, and more

I own both books but must confess not having read through Carbon yet. Our group plays GeneFunk and it works really well. There is only a barebones description of the world in GeneFunk, though.

    D&D 5E (2014) Tasha’s Cauldron Delayed Outside North America

Hm...yeah, sucks somewhat for us in Europe...then again, money's tight for November. I guess I'll get the digital version first via Beyond and then buy the physical copy on my birthday (which happens to be Decmber 1st ;) ).

Meet the Mother of Hideous Laughter

Yeah and her unpredictable nature makes for all sorts of adventure hooks. Maybe the warlock ended up in her hut as a child and had a simple choice - end up as dinner or become her servant, being taught some simple magics to better do her bidding...

A BATMAN RPG Has Just Been Announced

Could be interesting, although I am a die-hard Mutants & Masterminds fan. If the system flows smoothly and allows for minor street-level powers, it would present a nice alternative for street-level games.

D&D 5E (2014) A First Look at Tasha’s Lineage System In AL Player’s Guide - Customizing Your Origin In D&D

Hm...meh. Not a fan of ability bonuses being put wherever you want. We are still talking about different species, after all and I think it's not doing anyone a service when that's conflated with human ethnicities. A dwarf is not human. To say so is not racism. Now, subraces, on the other hand...
