Chris Perkins now Senior Producer, D&D RPG

Chris is a great guy. I'm glad that he's still moving up the ladder.

    James Wyatt new Creative Manager

Congrats to James, but I hope that this doesn't mean that Chris Perkins was also quietly shown the door with the others last week.

    Unconfirmed: More Layoffs at WotC

Me too. He and I share the same alma mater, and I owe a lot to him for his time as the editor in chief of Dragon.

    Unconfirmed: More Layoffs at WotC

There's also option 3: the expectations of the parent company exceed the earning potential of a particular brand. Niche, specialized games, even when it's the biggest one in its category, isn't enough to justify the expenses to a large corporation. Put the same game in the hands of a smaller...

    Unconfirmed: More Layoffs at WotC

Andy's a great guy and a great designer. This comes as a surprise to me, but I suspect that his services will be in demand as he looks for a new job.

(Mongoose) New Releases - Traveller, Earthdawn and Paranoia

It is in fact an oversight that managed to slip through production. The cover artist's name if Jason Walton and he does amazing work. In fact, I recently hired him for another project I'm working on. Once again I'm thrilled with the results. The interior art was handled by Empty Room Studios.

    Thank You Russ

Very few things on the internet are stable and long lasting. ENWorld has proven to be both, and that's thanks to Russ and the staff of mods. It's always nice to have a welcoming port to put into from time to time. Thank you.

Is It Time To Boycott Gen Con?

It's always sad to see technical limitations getting in the way of people having a good time. I know I've been on the receiving end of this enough times. Especially frustrating was the one time I could not get through to buy concert tickets and the event sold out before I could complete my...

(Mongoose) New Releases - Traveller, Earthdawn and Paranoia

I gotta say that I'm really looking forward to seeing my copy of the new version of Reign of Discordia. In addition to the new rules, I also gave the entire manuscript a complete re-edit, and then I added a bunch of information that does not appear in the True20 version. This is the new baseline...

Reign of Discordia/Sci-Fi: True20 or GURPS?

Hey Azgulor, First off, thanks for picking up Reign of Discordia. I know that you r question is more concerned with rules systems, and my opinion of True20, Traveller, and GURPS is that they're all excellent. In fact, if I had any pull with Steve Jackson Games, I'd be more than happy to release...

Are the Retro Clones doing well?

I can't speak for all freelancers, but this freelancer has worked a variety of odd jobs over the years. I've done tech support for two ISPs (I seriously doubt that there will be a third), done some manual labor, customer service, even went back to school to complete my degree and am currently...

What have been the big innovations in RPGs?

Yeah, I totally agree with you on all points, but for the sake of argument, let's look for just a moment at the things you could not do without the OGL. You could create your own version of the PHB, but it could not copy any text verbatim from the 3rd edition PHB because that would have been a...

    The Next Innovation in Gaming

Scott, I'm sure you've heard the joke: Q - How do you make a big pile of cash in the RPG industry? A - Start with an even larger pile of cash. Honestly, I think that companies that have the money and the customer base are going to see the greatest returns by not innovating, but rather...

What have been the big innovations in RPGs?

[/LIST] I think those were all great and important. The number one innovation is, in my opinion, the original one: the innovation where strategy wargames became roleplaying games. Instead of controlling Napoleonic armies, you were playing a unique character in a fantasy world, where immersion...

    Old school not cool

Well, as long as we're talking about personal choice, I pretty much agree. That's the reason why when I want to scratch my old school itch, I'll pull out Castles and Crusades along with an old school adventure. This way the rules play fast but they don't contain many of the rules elements that...

    Old school not cool

This is why there are different games. Different people like different things in different systems and not every game is good for everyone. Personally, I see value in most editions - most RPG systems, in fact. I do not begrudge old school D&D one iota because the game moved along at a much...

    Questions about the Oathbound revival

I might as well jump in here since I don't think Todd or Greg spend much time at this site. I'm not aware that Greg has any plans to bring this back. While it was pretty cool that the first one acted as sort of a grab bag of Oathbound goodness, it's kind of a taxing process to put these sorts of...

I was unaware of this thread yesterday when I suddenly decided to go check out City of Brass. Once I picked my jaw up off the floor, I put my order in. At $10, it was a no-brainer.
