I'm not sure why so many people focus on realism in D&D. Those same people don't tend to complain, in my experience, about a wizards ability to shoot magic missiles at his foes. I expect most would agree that historically, that didn't happen?

With a shielding swordmage, I've occasionally managed: Step 1: Challenge enemy at range. Step 2: Enemy can't get to you. Step 3: Enemy is ineffective against your friends. Step 4: Profit. Not truly a ranged attacker, but in some ways similar.

Actually, I think it's more important to avoid cooking or eating the ranger with milk. After all, the question was whether the *ranger* was Kosher, right? I'm pretty sure rangers are a meat item, excepting warforged.

Wow, that's what I was going to say, even down to the number of levels. :)

I concur. In my campaign, you can teleport to or from a sailing ship without a problem, but jumping off cliffs is discouraged. Whether you want to call that frame of reference or DM fiat, I don't feel the need to accept either problem.

This post was dated 5th June 2008. Looks like the only xp would be for time since then, 5.5 months? For a ECL 4 character, that would be 1,100 xp. I propose we close this, with a story explanation that the Eidolon escaped, the trail growing too cold to continue pursuit.

This was the only other XP reward Anvuss received, and also did not include a time xp award. I believe that at that time, it was RA's habit to hold off on rewarding time xp, and to then award it based on the character's level at time of reward. I believe time XP is due from March 4, 2007...
