I believe they've said that the spells can be used without the implement, but you'll want the implement. My guess: not having an implement will have a penalty similar to trying to use a weapon you are not proficient with.

This seems to disproven on review of the monster/rules list compilation pdf. Apparently, your non level-adjusted stat modifier continue to apply to damage.

I don't believe either one references preparing spells. I'll check when I get home, but I believe Spontaneous Healer says you can cast healing spells spontaneously "like a cleric" a number of times per day equal to your wisdom modifier. I can see interpreting it either way, but I can't...

This is the one that describes my position best. Though the more I look at the sample characters, the more I resent having to pick all my 3e spells prepared. I'll be glad to see vancian magic go.

I've been meaning to ask this since I tried out the sample characters... For a burst 1, do you pick an intersection and go out 1, resulting in a 4 square AOE or do you pick a square and go out 1 resulting in a 9 square AOE?

Is Time Stop lower than 9th level for someone? I thought artificer level +2 had to equal or exceed the minimum caster level for the spell in question in order to emulate it. That'd require a 15th level artificer to make a time stop scroll unless I'm missing something.

Doesn't the Brute add Dex and Str to damage? Also, I may be wrong on this, but doesn't the whole attribute modifier get a +1 per 2 levels? Maybe only attacks do, but if there's another 10 points of attribute modifier (each?) due solely to level, that'll up the numbers a lot. Perhaps I should...
