    General Discussion '08

I've put in a credit post, although I'm sleepy and might have messed it up. E-mail me if I need to fix it.

Marked By Destiny, Marked by Tragedy Part 3 (No Judge Yet)

June 14 to Sept 8 = 3 months. Is that 3 credits, then or am I missing some? I aprove 3, let me know if it should be more!

    Calling all LEW Judges

I'm around and semi-active. It seems most of the adventures I'm in have died, and I've been so pressed for time my own adventure died as well. Out of six characters on two living worlds, I think all the adentures together are seing a couple of posts a week. I'm in favor of killing the...

BLEB1: Beer Run (stonegod - Designated Driver)

"Well, unless we run into some unexpected obstacle, I figure we should just go back the way we came, yes?"

    W3: The Eidolon (Bront Judging)

Any hope of getting a close-out post for this? Maybe a final xp reward and a brief summary of how the mission broke up?

    Peregrinations of the Shard

I'm equally OK with continuing under Rae (if he is willing) or having someone issue XP and close this out.

How to kill a blue dragon?

Yeah, run for a cave or anything with a roof, to limit flying options. Also provides a great answer to "Hey, DM, why should we go into this obviuosly dangerous dungeon and get ourselves killed?" -- why, because outside you can't even properly engage the flying Dragon! The dungeon is the only...

D&D 4E [4e] Wizard as good as a Fighter in Standard Melee

A 30th level Fighter and a 30th level wizard built in absolutely bizzarre ways might have similar melee basic attacks, although the fighter will still have an edge. If you compare the best melee power of each, however, you'll see who the melee character is. That, and the assumption that a...

S3: The Scythe of Seto (Bront Judging)[Completed]

Banion has no need of a magic weapon. If someone will use one, he suggests they take it. Any left over can be sold.

"Would he need to return to a state of grace or something first? Mystic shrined might not work as well, given the evil acts he has performed."

    Divine Power Source

How about a Divine Controller called the "Hellfire Priest?" Clerics allready offer a relatively high degree of area effects, and as you've pointed out they have some fear effects too. We have two divine classes in the PHB, but only one controller... what would make the Hellfire priest more...

    D&D 4E 4E character creation

One of the upcoming 4e books is focussed on undead. Maybe wait for that to be published first?

    Swordmage Dimensional Dodge question

Page 268 of the PHB under interrupt: "If an interrupt invalidates a triggering action, that action is lost. For example, an enemy makes a melee attack against you, but you use a power that lets you shift away as an interrupt. If the enemy can no longer reach you, the enemy attack action is...

    Solar Armor = Insane!

I concur. Also, I would rule that you can't end your turn adjacent to yourself, which would also cause the paladin some problems if he wanted to keep his divine challenge on himself.

Opening Shove, New Warlord at Will

Indeed. I find reach is especially handy with powers like this, as the enemy will often need to shift in order to attack me. Eladrin Soldier with greatspear seems like a good combo. With opening shove and the right paragon path, Spear Push also adds some good stuff.

Opening Shove, New Warlord at Will

Check out page 40 of the DMG under "Legitimate Targets." Is an ally a meaningful threat? If not, striking an ally to gain the free shift for another ally would be prohibited by the 'bag of rats' clause. There's room for argument here, but I think the rules as written prohibit using opening...

Opening Shove, New Warlord at Will

Of course, a trip (causing the opponent to stumble back) would most properly be against reflex and if expertly done might be more effective against a giant than a dwarf due to high v. low centers of gravity. How to explain the ooze, though... ;)

Opening Shove, New Warlord at Will

I don't have my book handy, so maybe I'm wrong, but I have the idea that in order to get the effect from an attack you have to attack an enemy (and one who is a credible threat, too.) I think it's perfectly fair to use opening shove on your ally to push him or her, but I don't think you can use...

BLEB1: Beer Run (stonegod - Designated Driver)

"Any particular hazards we should look out for? Is the beer susceptible to heat or cold? Is dampness or sunlight a particular problem? Or perhaps you refer to bandits?"

Opening Shove, New Warlord at Will

This looks like a pretty cool power, from the Martial Power excerpt. Here are my first thoughts on it. It does no damage, but on a hit it pushes the target and then gives an ally you can see the opportunity to either make a basic melee attack on the target or shift int mod squares... 4 squares...
