I am beginning to appreciate some of the design decisions of 4E.

When doing the spells, try this out. Perram's Spellbook - A Pathfinder Spell Card Generator I find it saves a lot of time and cuts down on prep time for spell casters.

    Dungeon Crawl Classics RPG

Looks like Goodman Games is producing their own RPG based on their Dungeon Crawl Classics brand according to ICv2. Old School Meets OGL Goodman Games has announced plans to publish a roleplaying game designed to have the feel and style of the earliest fantasy roleplaying games. The game will...

Nearing 100000 members - How did you find En World?

At the time of writing this thread, I see the En World community counter is at 99998. Since we're about to cross the 100000 number, I was wondering. How did you first hear about En World? What was the RPG market like when you joined and what were the hot topics? I joined in June 2004. 3.5 was a...

I'm considering dropping Pathfinder to return to D&D 2e.

If it's fun and everyone has buy in then go for it. Nothing wrong with switching things up a bit and going back to the tried and true as long as your players are on board.

    WotC Angst?

I chose meh because 4e just isn't my style. Also, I have the feeling that if I told WoTC that I stopped buying any of their products because 4e wasn't for me, they're response would be "meh" as well.

    Most Played FRPG of 2010

I ran my regular game of Pathfinder and had the chance to dabble with Battlestar Galactica RPG with a buddy of mine on-line. Other than that, I had a chance to play a rousing game of World in Flames (Not an RPG, I know, but I still played it...so there) and some sessions of Runebound.

    Who's your favorite Villain?

The old Preacher in Poltergeist II and III was down right spooky and oozed evil.

What to look for in 2011?

Hmmmm.. I guess for me it would be: 1. Pathfinder: Ultimate Magic 2. DC Adventures (Heroes and Villains books) 3. Pathfinder: Chase cards That's it for now...I can't think of any others at this moment as I just got off work...

    Why do you play RPGs?

You know, when I was kid I had a huge collection of Star Wars action figures, and toys. Me and my friends would spend hours playing with them, pretending we were Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Darth Vader. It was fun because it allowed us to use our imagination. We would explore, laugh, fight ...

    Open Apology to Professorcirno

Admitting you're wrong earns more respect than declaring you're right. It's the hardest thing a person will ever do in life next to telling the truth and you did both!!

Let's do an experiment using bad boxed text.

You see, the problem I have is my players NEVER NEVER NEVER let me get through reading out boxed text. It always goes something like this... Me: You all enter the chamber after unlocking the door. A bright light shines from what appears to be an altar where the silhouettes of many figures can...

    How to Handle a Chase

We had a chase scene in our last game where the party were running from a group of guards in a castle. Since they didn't know the layout of the castle and considering it was an enclosed environment, if forced the pcs to be creative with their use of magic (black tentacles here, fire wall there)...

    How to Handle a Chase

I'm running Pathfinder with my current group but a system to run a chase (I'm talking about a good old fashion foot chase here) could be system neutral. How do you handle chase scenes? Do you go round by round? Do you just narrate the actions with little to no rolling, or do you simply do a...

    "Gateway Drug"

For me, it went something like this: D&D RedBox/D&D 1E Started with the red box and moved onto 1E. Warhammer FRP Was introduced to this game by a friend of mine. Dark and gritty. It was a fresh change from the system of D&D Marvel Superheroes This was something I played with a friend on the...

    DM Question Time

I have been DMing for many years and have encountered these issues from time to time. Take my answers with a grain of salt however. Just because they worked for me and my groups in the past don't necessarily mean that they will work for you. But as they say, nothing ventured....yada yada. 1...

Keeping the sense of wonder alive

It's my enthusiasm for the campaign that seems to catch on with the players. I love telling stories of many past games involving other players and how Morvia had evolved. I bring out all of the maps I have made, refer to many of the NPCs and it just seems to bring out the wow factor in them.

    When Is PC Death Worst?

I chose as the GM. Incorporating a new PC into an ongoing campaign is a headache and it's a task I usually lay at the feet of the player. But I also see it as an opportunity for the surviving PCs to take a "reality check" (well, you know, reality being relative in an RPG that is) and realize...

What are Your Favorite Out of Print RPGs?

I just got it myself from Noble Knight Games. What a great game that was. I'm looking at getting back some of the modules I ran way back in the day. I 'm not sure whatever happened to the ones I had...

    Bloodthirsty PC's

Well it depends where they are and what they are doing, but generally no, they don't act like jerks, they act like they have authority. When the PCs are lower level, I usually send in the low level guards to deal with them. When they get up there in level, I'll send in more troops led by...

    Bloodthirsty PC's

It's funny, but the group I DM seems to suffer from the same affliction most players I have encountered in the past fall sway to. No matter what city, town, port, holding, province, territory or castle they find themselves tromping through, they believe that the local laws don't apply to them...
