How much money do plan on purchasing 3E/OGL products this year?

Subscribing to pathfinder Will probably pick up PFRPG WotBS Are you counting stuff like Spycraft & M&M that are "3e based OGL" but not playable with 3e? That'll put me over $500.

    Wrong facts about D&D3 combat?

I find minis speed up combat with them when you need them, and slow them down when you don't need them. ;) A complex combat with large parties on each side and area effects? Yeah, use minis (or illustrations on graph paper, whatever). The monk dips into a back alley and gets accosted by 2...

    Wrong facts about D&D3 combat?

Very much so. Long before 4e was a twinkling in Mearls' eye, I had a tendency to hear complaints about things I never see at the table. As, well, complainers post. But the dawning of a new edition brought a new fever pitch to tales of things I never see at the table. Different people run the...

[Lets choose] the ENworld un-word of 2008

Toon really must go. But on usage as well as sheer negativity thus contained, I think I'd have to hand the award to Nerdrage.

What d20 PDFs do you regret not picking up?

Loot 4 Less Volume 3. :/ I bought 2 of FFG's Path of * books in PDF, but would have eventually liked to pick up the other 2.

3.5 Discounts (Forked Thread: New 3.xE Products in 2009)

My LGS hasn't discounted books, even old shelf worn coppies that have been mangled by having bodies of 40k players playing at the too nearby table press against them. But then, I rarely have seen tempting discounts on backstock from them. (shrug)

Halls of the Mountain Kings has met the commission for 3e/OGL: Open Design - Entering the Halls of the Mountain King

    New 3.xE Products in 2009

Since you list Castles & Crusades, it sounds like you are interested in generic OGL stuff, not just strictly 3e compatible stuff. In which case, I'll note that I am looking forward to Fantasy Craft, which is looking to be a really intriguing fantasy toolkit. I'll also second the encouragement...

Sell/Give Away Dem Books! Forked Thread: Did You Buy the First Three 4e Core Books?

I have a lot of books I could ebay, but I typically don't find it worth the effort.

Forked Thread: Why do we have a constant numbers bloat?

Does the phrase "tail wagging the dog" mean anything to you? The game was built around the assumption that CR=party level is an average challenge. Shifting the baseline to match the outlier instead of reigning the outlier in shifts the balance of the game. Suddenly, all the claims of "this...

    Classless Spycraft 2.0

S'alright. You had me picturing a RA who was REALLY GOOD at making sure the students were in by curfew. ;)

Anyone remember the old "Compleat" series by Bard Games?

Someone in our group got the Compleat Alchemist, Spellcaster, and Adventurer; Alchemist had the biggest impact. The other two sort of faded away. I played an alchemist in a D&D game for a while; it was a lot of fun. Until I died. They played a more prominent role when Bard Games came out with...

Forked Thread: Why do we have a constant numbers bloat?

Because it's easier to give than to take away, and whether or not the numbers mean something different in a new edition, giving you a smaller number for stats, damage, etc., will be perceived as taking away. In a similar vein, contrast this with Book of Nine Swords. IMHO, the "right" thing to...

    Anyone Rocking StarBlazer Adventures?

Read, yes. Played, no. I've been playing Spirit of the Century (in some case adapting for my own purposes, such as tweaking it to run the Iron Lords of Jupiter retro-SF/planetary romance setting.) So I already have an appreciation of the FATE 3 system. I dig that they extend the system to...

    Classless Spycraft 2.0

Krensky FTW. Good post. As implied here, I beleive the best way to apply origins (especially when more than one might apply) is not pick out the one that seems most obvious at a casual glance, but to pick out the one that best reflects what your character is about. Or, if you aren't that much...

    ENWorld Edition Bias

I'd have to say it's slightly pro-4e. It was worse, but never as bad as RPG.net's D20 forum is.

    Classless Spycraft 2.0

Well, have you played much before? I've always found that the origin (talent/specialty) system gave you a pretty effective tool at customizing your character.

    Classless Spycraft 2.0

Well, you can hack the NPC system, but I think you'll have much better luck not going classless, but using Back to Basics, if you don't already have it: EN World PDF Store - Crafty Games - Back to Basics: Modern SRD Classes for Spycraft 2.0 Basically, instead of the highly competent and well...
