Why Do You Like the Forgotten Realms?

Oooh, yeah, that too! I remember after reading that thinking that should be the standard for Deity books forever after that. Yet somehow in 3e, Wizards returns to the "Deity Monster Manual" format for Deities & Demigods. Why, WotC, Why!? :.-(

Why Do You Like the Forgotten Realms?

Does that mean we can report "likers" in the "why don't you like" thread? I like Undermountain. Nice big megadungeon with lots of cool rooms and lots of room to do my own thing, and lots of cool extras in the boxed sets. The 3e FRCS book was, it seems to me, a great example of how to...

    DC Gameday VII -- October 9th and 10th, 2010

I think the Spy Museum is great. However, every time I have went, I've been with kids, and I felt it detracted from the experience. There's too much to take in just rushing through.

What are Your Favorite Out of Print RPGs?

D&D 3.x - and Scarred Lands setting DC Heroes. (The Mayfair one). Traveller. Classic to Mega. Bushido.

Lax editing standards as long as updates are free?

It might not be surprising that I think it makes it better, but certainly doesn't make it okay. Especially talking about printed books. I want my printed, unmarred, unstickied book to reflect the way that we play it. THAT SAID, in the opposite vein, I have seen a few ranters post about how the...

Why *Dont* you like Forgotten Realms?

That may well be the source of the problem as I perceive it. It wouldn't be the only RPG line, in my estimation, to be made lesser by pairing it with a novel property. I still weep over major conflicts of the Dark Sun being resolved in one novel series. Hmmm. Interesting claim to examine in...

RPGs about the time of the Napoleonic Wars?

It's really not my thing, but I've been hearing some crazy good praise about these games on the RPGhaven podcast: episode 3 – introducing co-host Ryan and Boulet on Rêve du Dragon | The RPG Haven Podcast episode 8 – an interview with Beat to Quarters creator Neil Gow | The RPG Haven Podcast

What could a publisher sell you RIGHT NOW/

Oh, yeah... A nice cleaned-up, consolidated Scarred Lands setting for PFRPG would be boss.

Why *Dont* you like Forgotten Realms?

No, I have more true to life anecdotes to base that on. ;) This really has little to do with my acceptance of the Realms, however. Is this still a response to me? Volo really doesn't bug me, but maybe I don't recall the cheesy author insertion ego-wank in Volo writings the way I do Elminster...

What could a publisher sell you RIGHT NOW/

A decent, robust, user-expandable character generator for PFRPG and/or Fantasy Craft. XPH for PF/FC

Why *Dont* you like Forgotten Realms?

Since a real drow maiden is probably concealing a dagger of venom or a horde of water spiders or something under the surface, scary might be a better term. In Ed's fantasy, drow maidens aren't scary, but horny. It's the fact that you are in Ed's fantasy that's creepy. ;)

    Have you guys seen Trailblazer?

Well, it's the #1 selling item and the ENWorld affiliate page at RPGnow.com, so some folks obviously do. This goes way back to when I would dust up with Wulf in his blog, but there are problems he perceives that I feel he has very practical solutions for, and some things it seems he spends a...

Why *Dont* you like Forgotten Realms?

Maybe I haven't sufficiently clarified what my objection here is. It's not that there are sexual aspects to the setting (for sufficiently mature audiences), but that little things like this come across as Ed's way of using authorial authority to insert himself in conjured sexual boasts via...

    Do you like character building?

I've heard of builds in this context (and in the "pre-planned character design in D&D" context.) It's easy to see how one can leap to building from there, but that word was already being used. Along with toons. ;)

Why *Dont* you like Forgotten Realms?

Not Cirno, but... 1) Of Sues Best Unspoken - RPGnet Forums 2) Certain anecdotes about some ribaldrous comments by Ed which I won't link to here, but be it well enough to say that from comments there, I understand weren't unique in any way. Is saying someone's commentary disturbs you against...

    Do you like character building?

Building a character is making a character, no? The word build seems to have a second context here which I don't think is universal. Nor do I think your condemnation or unfair conclusion of certain games is accurate: just because I want detail in chargen DOES NOT mean I want to "build" (meaning...

    The Core...Forgotten...Eberron?

No, in actuality I don't. My point in the post wasn't that edition warring wasn't already starting. But that's already water under the bridge. My point was in hopes of deterring further edition warry responses from that point, and that the smarmy link WASN'T helping.

    Discussion on iterative attacks

It bothers me. On two counts. First, I find that players who are a bit less than rapid with their math skills and/or a bit less than rigorous at remembering modifiers (not at all a population limited to noobies) spend an inordinate amount of time resolving them. Second, players put too much...
