Pathfinder Converts: what non-PF 3.X stuff do you typically import?

Certainly. And as for me, I neither seek extreme ACs nor think that "spam for the 20" is something I want to encourage, so I think it's a pretty safe assumption most of the time.

Pathfinder Converts: what non-PF 3.X stuff do you typically import?

I did, and am considering that as well. It seems like HP are more sparse, but you can do more with them. But I find the reasoning behind the Action Points a bit stronger (make up for not having the supposed magic item set, surmount save-or-suck issues).

Pathfinder Converts: what non-PF 3.X stuff do you typically import?

Yeah, that. Supposedly (didn't run the numbers myself), you actually get a damage boost except in corner cases. After reading more of Trailblazer again, I'm thinking of using their take on action points as well.

Favorite Post Apocalyptic d20 game or setting

Um, has anyone mentioned Darwin's World? ;)

Pathfinder Converts: what non-PF 3.X stuff do you typically import?

After deciding that I dislike iterative attacks enough that I don't wish to ever use them again in a game I run, I think I'll adopt the Trailblazer iterative attack rules should I run PF in the near future.

You don't play 4E, but what did they get RIGHT?

Put me down for iterative attacks... just remember which d20 game nixed it first. ;) Also, static defenses. That reflex save mod was a different thing from touch AC in 3.5 never sat well with me.

    3.5 better for world building?

I dunno. 4e is so "concept follows mechanics" that I'd feel I had to shove stuff in that I think I agree with Auld Grump. But that won't have been the first time. That being said "late 3.5 + supplements" was just as bad, because it pretty much followed the same philosophy. But at least up until...

males playing females and the other way around, opinions?

When approaching the topic of making characters, I don't draw much distinction between making one to play than I would identifying a character that interests me in fiction. Is it okay for me to like Sydney Bristow or Jean Grey as TV or comic characters, for example? That being the case, I...

Are Casters 'still' way better than noncasters after level 6?

I'm wondering if I should now feel insulted on behalf of my wizard players or myself. :p I'm here to tell you that: 1) I have run games to high levels 2) I did find under 3.5, the 15-minute workday was a non-issue (which is not the same as saying it never happened.) That sounds like a...

Any ToB inspiration in Ultimate Combat?

I don't think most of it is broken. Most of the spells a player with an eye for optimization will be taking will be, however. ;) I found that collecting new spells in one place was a great convenience, but you really need to be ready to say no to some stuff. As for Tome of Battle, my question...

Whatcha gonna run? Whatcha wanna play?

May whip up a new adventure in my Ludlumesque/Zodiac sequence for Spycraft. Other than that, I'm torn what to run for a second session: - Another Sword & Sorcery yarn with Fantasy Craft? The first one seemed to go over pretty well. - In the vein of "running games I don't get to play at home"...

    [APG] Summoner Still Worth Taking?

Indeed. I had a major villain over the course of the campaign which showed how nasty a summoner could be. Oooh, I don't know about that. Online, optimization is all that gets talked about, but IME, the bulk of normal players aren't highly efficient optimizers, and it stinks having a PC hobble...

For me, it'd be between Curse of the Crimson Throne and Legacy of Fire. Picked Legacy for the poll.

Is full casting full casting, or is arcane > divine?

Direct power comparisons of "better" between classes is fraught with peril. You can show that class X will whip the snot out of class Y, but unless you are playing an arena fight game, such analyses often fail to capture what is relevant to the actual game. More to the point, the wizard's core...

Pathfinder Converts: what non-PF 3.X stuff do you typically import?

Psionics. Environment books (Stormwrack, Frostburn, Sandstorm) Fiendish Codices I'm glad to leave most of the WotC 3.5 stuff behind... 3rd party monster books: Tome of Horror I-III, Advanced Bestiary, Book of Templates, Book of Fiends, Denizens of Avadnu Green Ronin's Book of the...

    APG Class Opinions?

I'm in the midst of writing a review, but a preview of my thoughts: I like the alternate build, though I would have preferred if the classes all took this sort of idea into account when first conceived so they could have been more elegant. More specifically, I find the bard and monk a bit of...

WHy do druids and clerics get special treatment?

I believe that in 3e, the "know all spells" thing was instrumental in making the abusable. Because every new supplement that comes out, et voila! You know all the new power-escalating spells!

What's your favorite RPG that you've never actually played?

To my good fortune... and persistence... I've managed to play most games I own and am fired up about at least once. A recent outlier in this department is Diaspora, which seems to elude having me play it. :erm: I'd also love to actually play a few of the cool D20 variants I missed out on...

Do Awards affect your Shopping habits?

To me, the average game has to catch my attention to in some way convince me it's worth taking a look at and not just part of the morass of middling games that will be gone inside of a year. Awards are one way to make me do that. Though I will say I don't think that awards are a definitive sign...
