Have you looked at Mongoose's Power Class: Hedge Wizard? I don't have it with me, but I think that might be close to what you want. IIRC, it has to prepare spells and maxes out at 7th level spells, but gets oodles of low-level spells (infinite spontaneously-casting cantrips at 9th level), d6...

A good special might be +2 to all illusion (pattern) spell DC's. AFAIK, there are only 3 such spells (color spray, hypnotic pattern, rainbow pattern), so that shouldn't be too powerful. I think I'd give it fly 20ft movement, too.

A quick Google search (NeMoren's Vault) shows a number of online places that claim to have it, including Talon Comics.

IMO, the Monsternomicon is a wonderful place to start. It has great art, the relative size thing, backstory, good stats. The monster lore checks are great. I think it's a fantastic book, but it really needs indeces (one by CR, one by type, and maybe one by climate/terrain). So don't forget...
