    H2 -- oops, nearly a TPK....

I really should have left well enough alone, I guess. But, I had 8 people in the party, so I thought that the Murkelmoor fight needed to be beefed up a wee bit. I thought wrong. Party was (all 4th level): Dragonborn Pally Minotaur Swordmage Dwarf Cleric of Melora Tiefling Warlock (Fey)...

    Why no adventure paths?

I'd LOVE to do an adventure path -- heck, I've got a 30-level outline written down and have started in on it. Alas, real life, work and the realization that I sorta *suck* at the artistic side have currently put a crimp in my plans. I can drawn functional maps on graph paper, but translating...

The 3 Core Books plus THIS ONE BOOK are all you can use to game--What's the one book?

"Robert's Rules of Order" ;) Well, not really.... 4E PHB2's gotta be it, it just does.

Help me name my Cowboys & Dragons 4e setting

"Claw Hill" "Dragons East" (if you want to go with a comedic touch, John Candy cameo optional) "Gazing Saddles" (as long as we're going with the basilisk theme...) "Dragontrain" "Scales of the Old West"

    role-playing accents, dialects, voices, etc.

Another good trick -- reversal. Character is a massive slab of muscle? Be softspoken and maybe even a bit hesitant, as if he's possibly afraid of his own strength. Pipsqueak? Be loud, insistent and florid -- make up for your lack of size with sheer force of personality and flamboyance.

Lifting players's selection constraints on powers - has anyone tried this?

Interesting idea. Only caveats would be that they can't change out 1) powers from a Paragon Path 2) Epic Destiny powers as all of those are fixed at choice of Path/Destiny.

4E Monster Manual II: will you?

They had me at "Maw of Acamar." More aberrations, pussycat, KILL KILL!

    Monk Preview

This nails it -- 4E is now offically the Naruto* RPG.... ;) But seriously, I'm lovin' the monk and its flavor -- can't wait to see the whole thing, plus the other stuff coming in PH3. *(how the bloody blue blazes is it that nobody's made this joke in 14 pages? Come ON people!)

    role-playing accents, dialects, voices, etc.

I don't often do accents per se (though I can slip into them almost unconsciously), but I do vary timbre and tone of my voice as well as volume (though not TOO much). A flamboyant, headstrong showy fighter type gets an enthusiastic showing, with a bit (or a lot) of bombast. A shadow skulker...

    Rouges sux!

I shall stick to my guns and spell "Rogue" as I pronounced it: "Ragu!" There, I've preserved the "u", gotten rid of the superfluous "o" & "e", added an "a" and made it into a two-syllable word! Additionally, it's very apt as quite often they end up looking like their namesakes.... ;)

Ideas for unusual or deadly cults wanted!

And when he does return, of course, he turns out to be a harried husband who, some centuries ago, told his nagging wife that he'd "be back soon," despite having no intentions whatsoever of returning. She went mad, founded the cult, and now that he's decided that "300 years wandering the...

    MM2 Excerpt: Pod Demon

My only major response to this is -- AAARRGH! Those are the exact same mechanics I was thinking of using for the final Far Realm monstrosity in a campaign I'm planning! I don't dare use this guy, 'cause I want my players to be surprised and creeped out. Only real differences is 1) my baddie...

    GTS 2009 D&D Seminar - the Rouse discusses D&D

Ahhh, let's leave SciFi out of the D&D movie discussion; frankly, the 2nd D&D movie was already like a made-for-SciFi flick. I'd rather see them get away from that sorta thing, IYKWIMAITYD. Now, if we're talking about a TV series that'd be a whole 'nother thing, as they've done pretty well on...

    GTS 2009 D&D Seminar - the Rouse discusses D&D

Now that I think of it, I do have a question for Scott on the topic of a hypothetical D&D movie: Are plans being made for better quality control of the next D&D-related/branded/themed movie? 'Cause, well, frankly the last two live action ones were less than good; I watched the 2nd one on TV...

    Cruel DM stuff

Next most evil thing I've done -- and also tons of fun: Eberron campaign -- party has found themselves in the Demon Wastes on a mission to hook up with the local orc tribes. One of the party is a half orc fighter with a bit of an attitude. Part of the plot behind the scenes is that the...

Dynamic Visualization (or skinning on the fly)

As for a visual description of Tide of Iron: "A quick hack with my weapon leaves my opponent unprepared for what comes next -- my shield hammering into his chest with my full weight behind it, driving him back."

    Looking for thoughts on this

Hehe, that's still a scary beastie -- but in your calculations, you've got 2d10 in all the attacks, not 1d10 -- why is that, exactly? <edit> woops, nevermind, I just clued in -- twin Vengefuls. Ow ow ow, that really hurts....
