    D&D 5E (2024) What is positive?

I will say - I don't know it is a new edition or half edition - so I don't think saying 'we all know it's a new edition' is correct. Will further elaborate my thoughts in reply to one of your other posts.

    Dragonlance Dragonlance Philosophy thread

I don't know, discussion I was having with @Levistus's_Leviathan earlier seemed to be heading towards an objective sort of view, albeit hard to prove - science can be used to objectively measure what is good or bad for people's health and wellbeing - whether through foods, medicines...

    Dragonlance Dragonlance Philosophy thread

Problem of portrayal of the Gods, and all the other species in Dragonlance, is that they are still presented has having very human behaviours (and for the other species, thoughts for the most part - the Kender having some differences here in their fearlessness / naivety but that is called out as...

    Dragonlance Dragonlance Philosophy thread

That I can get behind / agree with, and is interesting to think that there is an objective good / evil, and that we are still learning the extent of it - some stuff we clearly define as evil today, well canvassed previously, but some items people in the past didn't consider evil, but always were...

    Dragonlance Dragonlance Philosophy thread

I agree with nearly all of that, Good and Evil is I think intrinsic to human experience, our feel for what is right. Your example of smoking companies is also good, and thinking about it I think Good and Evil is talking about intent - murder is evil, because murder is intentionally killing...

    Dragonlance Dragonlance Philosophy thread

And as a further bit, hopefully okay to post this quote in full from the late great Terry Pratchett, but I think applies to the ideas of overarching Good / Evil: “All right," said Susan. "I'm not stupid. You're saying humans need... fantasies to make life bearable." REALLY? AS IF IT WAS SOME...

    Dragonlance Dragonlance Philosophy thread

The clarification on intolerant stuff is good here - as otherwise the Kingpriest arguably was the only one of the good people you were listing that was being intolerant of evil, but the actions he was taking went too far / became evil himself. I don't think that Good and Evil can be objectively...

WotC WotC needs an Elon Musk

Depends on how you define hardcore fans. I think prioritising existing customers is the correct choice if have to prioritise, but I don't think that means have to prioritise hardcore fans, which may only be 10% of your profit, even if on a per customer basis they are more profitable than others.

Dragonlance Dragonlance Adventure & Prelude Details Revealed

But the rest of his post outlines why the fluff doesn't really give an actual definition of what good is. Doing the right thing as expected by society - even in todays' world, there are many countries with very different laws around certain things, so a Lawful Good paladin in one country will...

WotC WotC needs an Elon Musk

Agreed, few things I would want, but accept that the market for this is so low it isn't worth WOTC doing: 1: if having time jump like FR has had, update the information on regions to reflect what the up to date world looks like - is Citadel Adbar still in same state as last time or not? Some...

WotC WotC needs an Elon Musk

Is one of my favourites, and I regret getting rid of it when we purged all our 3rd edition D&D books a while ago, but I also quite liked the more in depth books diving into certain areas, have very fond memories of the Serpent Kingdoms, plus the likes of Silver Marches, Magic of Faerun, Lords of...

Dragonlance Dragonlance Adventure & Prelude Details Revealed

Certainly some interesting discussions here, if somewhat circular at times. What I find interesting is how it ties into some of the themes of dragonlance, e.g. some of the views on why the Towers are essentially evil for allowing evil to be part of the Towers, seem to run close to the...

    Dragonlance Dragonlance "Reimagined".

Going to repost a bit of what I posted in a thread earlier this year - but the word of the Lawful Good God is that the Kingpriest was good: The ending of the first trilogy had Fizban saying: 'There was a time when good held sway .. right before the Cataclysm'. 'Yes, the Kingpriest of Istar was...
