Dragon article -- Class Acts: Wizards

Heh. No more or less vague than most of the other powers in the Player's Handbook. :(

Stealth in combat. Evidence and advice.

They also don't have Stealth as a trained skill. You would have to spend a feat to get particularly good at it.

    Rangers and dual throwing weapons

But can he throw both handaxes as part of the same attack? I'm pretty certain he uses the attribute shown in the power description.

Stealth in combat. Evidence and advice.

Thanks a lot! That does clear up some issues in my group. It is also worth mentioning that a Rogue with Deft Strike need not waste a move action to hide. He can make a Stealth check as part of his free 2-square movement. :D

Bolstering Strike abuse - infinate temporary hitpoints??

No. Unlike previous editions of the game you are NOT your own ally. If an ability says you AND your allies, then, and only then, are you good to go.

Bolstering Strike abuse - infinate temporary hitpoints??

It is also worth noting that powers with beneficial side effects don't work unless you are beating up on a genuinely threatening enemy. For example, you CAN'T use a power that says "you can spend a healing surge upon a successful attack," by attacking a bag full of defenseless rats you just so...

    Rangers and dual throwing weapons

He's not trying to use them with melee only exploits. Many exploits say "Requirement: You must be wielding two melee weapons or a [single] ranged weapon." I want to know how that interacts with TWO throwing weapons (such as handaxes or shuriken). See where the confusion is coming in? The text...

    Rogue & Shuriken Questions

In the weapons section it lists a shuriken as a 'light blade' & 'light thrown'. Would this enable it to qualify for certain Rogue exploits that require a light blade? i.e. Piercing Strike or Riposte Strike. Yes. It is a ranged weapon, however, and therefor won't work with melee only powers...

    Rangers and dual throwing weapons

My brother is playing a pirate who throws axes at people and duel wields cutlasses (we used scimitar stats). Therefore, he has a whole host of duel-wielding powers. My question is this: Many of the powers say he must have two melee weapons or a ranged weapon. What if he has two handaxes...

What happens with reliable multi-target powers?

I posted this question over at the WotC forums. General concensus there is that, RAW you retain the power if you miss even a single target. Most will also say that, that is not the RAI, however.

Challenge! I want to convert your concept!

What about my character? Are you going to conveniantly ignore those that you would otherwise fail to convert effectively? Let me make it easier for you: He's an evil wizard with superhuman intelligence who plots world domination via dark supernatural magic and minions. He is the archatypical...

Challenge! I want to convert your concept!

That's not any worse than the 3rd edition monk and his flurry of misses. ;) Also, here is an old character of mine for the OP. I dare you to try and make a playable PC version, as well as a monstrous NPC version.

Wouldn't it be a zone in that case? Bursts and blasts are instantaneous.

D&D 4E Careful Shot vs Twin Strike....No Contest (4e spoilers)

Are you guys taking magic enhancement bonuses into account in those calculations? A lot of my friends kept forgetting that you can still add your magic enhancement bonus to the damage roll of Careful Shot even though your ability modifier is excluded from the damage.

    Messed up fighter power questions

I noticed the fighter has an area effect attack that are also reliable. If I use a reliable close burst 1 attack (thicket of blades) on 8 surrounding enemies, and I hit 7 of them, do I keep my attack per RAW? After all I did "miss" an attack. Or is it the more strict interpretation--I have to...

    Glaring PDF errors?

I've heard rumors that all the PDFs are all really buggy due to being earlier versions or some such. Some friends even told me that the Warlock class is suposed to get a utility power at 12th level, but apparently no utility powers exist at 12th level to choose from. Can anyone...

    AC and description

It's my understanding that bonuses from armor are stacked onto Reflex Defense to create the Armore Class. As for winging numbers? That's good in an emergency when you didn't prepare in advance, but for regular play? That's just stupid. A tabletope RPG needs consistency or else we are all back...

    "Charging provokes attacks of opportunity."

From my understanding, you can charge up to your speed +2 and make a basic melee attack as a standard action. You grant combat advantage to everyone until your next turn (and maybe take a hit to your AC as well). If you ALSO provoke, I wonder why anyone would ever bother charging!
