What's Next For Mutants In The Now?

Yeah. And that layout only got worse as the years went by. It was obvious they still trying to reuse the same literal cut and paste boards long after the rest of the industry had gone to desktop publishing.

Planescape Planescape IS D&D Says Jeremy Crawford

From WotC POV, this seems like a logical choice. It's easier to justify all the different species they are selling on D&D Beyond if your home base is Planescape.

What's Next For Mutants In The Now?

I need to check this game out. TMNT and Gamma World were my stepping stones out of B/X and into a wider world of gaming. Gamma World was probably our first "campaign" in that our heroes now had a community and families to fight for. And after TMNT, all of my players insisted on a parry roll...

Evil Genius Games Sues Netflix Over 'Rebel Moon' Roleplaying Game

Didn't these guys, EGG, snag venture capital funding? If so, this is like typical venture capital shenanigans..

Evil Genius Games Sues Netflix Over 'Rebel Moon' Roleplaying Game

Oddly this is not the first time a whole franchise was built off the back of a ttrpg. Timothy Zhan was given a box of WEG's Star Wars books as his world bible for the Thrawn Trilogy, which of course is even more relevant a fact with Ashoka just coming out.

Sneak Peak of Planescape: A Preview

Exactly, that was internet discussion about it with WotC folks but it was not part of the ad copy.

Sneak Peak of Planescape: A Preview

🤷‍♂️ I took it to mean just in the ttrpg space, not everything else. Otherwise, pretty much everything in ttrpgs had an inspiration in literature or other media and you could apply the meme to the whole industry.

    RPG Evolution: When Gamers Retire

In South Florida, one of the common jokes is how people messed up the places they worked and lived then retire here to defend an environment that constantly tearing down the infrastructure. It's hyperbolic comment of course. OTH, my parents opted to stay in the Midwest and they do the usual...

    RPG Evolution: When Gamers Retire

This is where a really great game store is worth its weight. If you drop by on an event night for RPGs/D&D, you can get a sense of the personalities you are meeting by the type of game/game style they are playing. Making such games a great short cut to making new friends.

    RPG Evolution: When Gamers Retire

Perhaps the biggest challenge for retiree gamers is they often move to a cheaper town to make their now fixed income stretch further. If they move into a gaming wasteland, their options become limited or they'll have to go online. Our FLGS is in South Florida, which keeps increasing over the...

Due to my love of Pendragon, Dragonbane has my attention as a BRP fantasy game that uses a d20.

What Are The Current Freelance Writing Rates In The TTRPG Industry?

I have a friend who applies to almost all of his entertainment. He reads free, translated Korean novels, free video games, etc. He started to imply I was fool for paying anything. Then he paid full price for Baulder's Gate 3 and its the only thing he talks about now. And only two weeks prior...

Survey: RPG play up 37% since pandemic, interest in D&D up 85%

Some of my player had a rush hour commute to be in my weekday game. Once we went online, that was pretty much it and now most of them have moved to cheaper locales so that's that. I recently started up a second game in-person because I miss the table energy as my now permanent zoom group seems...

D&D General Luke Gygax Brings Back Gary Gygax's Castle Zagyg

True that should be done but from a gaming perspective for C&C, they don't need to change the stats. I enjoyed C&C as how I remember playing AD&D, not how it actually went, if that makes sense. I wonder how the news of pre-orders will impact the secondary market because my copy is pretty near...

What Are The Current Freelance Writing Rates In The TTRPG Industry?

I remember something like this. Creators mentioned how a project was paying for groceries or rent and some supporters flipped.

What Are The Current Freelance Writing Rates In The TTRPG Industry?

When I was a freelance copywriter/journalist with friends in the industry, two things stopped me from trying to get into game writing. One is obvious, even in my lean years, the pay AND the time to get paid made no sense (3 cents a word AND months to get the paycheck?) But more of challenge was...
