Heh, yep...these were two local dogs that escaped their owner's vehicle and swam across the river into our construction site. I had to leash them with a spare tagline from a crane and escort them to the entrance of the site to be reunited with their (very apologetic) owner. Apparently they saw...

D&D General What makes a TTRPG a "D&D Variant" to you?

Yeah, that was my intent. I feel like almost every tabletop RPG out there is a variant of Dungeons & Dragons, just reskinned and reflavored for different audiences and participation levels. And this is a good thing. It's a useful touchstone that everyone in the hobby can relate to and compare...

    The EN World Selfie Thread

I also collect sunrise photos from the different construction sites I've been on, over the years. They aren't selfies, but they're still pretty rad. (Click to enlarge) Laramie, WY: Hillsboro, OR:

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I vote "ignore." Unless it's especially egregious, in which case I would add the words "and report it to the moderators."

D&D General What makes a TTRPG a "D&D Variant" to you?

If it has: Elves of any kind (from Tolkien to Vulcans), Swords of any kind (from longswords to lightsabers), Magic of any kind (elemental, arcane, The Force, tech-babble, etc.), Dragons of any kind (classic, or kaiju, or dinosaurs, or other Big Terrible Monsters), EDIT: and uses polyhedric...

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I can't wait for the day to come when a contractor uses AI to write a submittal (or worse, a contract.) Oh man. It will end soooo badly. (for them)

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

It does make me wonder how many of them are actually random, though. To hear some of them go on and on about AI, and see them use the same buzzwords and bullet points in almost the same order, I get the impression they are getting paid to use a script. But I'm skeptical of everything I see on...

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

To be fair, if I had also invested billions of dollars into AI, and if my economic future was also dependent on getting as many companies to onboard AI as quickly as possible, I'd be saying the same things about it.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

When I was a middle-school kid trying to learn D&D, I just assumed the math was deliberately obtuse, to make sure that only "older kids" would be able to play it. The way I saw it, that complicated math was intended to be a rite of passage (at best), or a bar to entry (at worst). So we made...

D&D General Would Mercer’s Bloodhunter be balanced with no self harm damage?

Hit Dice are very valuable, yes...and they're not as easily restored as hit points are. Hmm.... ...well, I guess you could turn all sorts of dials to make it work the way you need: You could let the player add their Hit Dice to all damage rolls until the end of their turn. or the player add...

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

The one that always gets me is "I could care less" when they are trying to say "I couldn't care less."

D&D General Would Mercer’s Bloodhunter be balanced with no self harm damage?

Maybe the Blood Hunter could spend Hit Dice instead of hp? Like, once per turn (maybe as a reaction?) a BH can add one of their Hit Dice to a damage roll.
