Our current party, which is apparently adventuring in the Caves of Chaos (more or less).
Krivken, Dragonborn Fighter (mine!)
Collin (the Miller), Human Warlord
E'a, Half-elven Warlock
Annwyl, Human Rogue
Liek, Eladrin Wizard
Fairly normal, really.
They also add their secondary stat to damage, with no need for 'tagging' the creature first.
I like it!
And it occurs to me that the Sorcerer is probably the simplest to play class we've seen to date--it doesn't have any broad fiddly bits (marks, quarries, curses, etc.).
All the Bonus Tools are flash widgets; the Compendium is just a straight web app. Only the Character Builder is an application. So, Mac users should be able to use Bonus Tools & Compendium.
The Character Builder was built in WPF on .Net--which for now is not portable (the Mono project guys...
No, they were made by some guy on the Hero Games boards a few years ago. He had access to a big (4'x8') CNC mill and used it to etch the hex grid then cut it into tiles.
The tiles themselves are cut on the hex lines, but they're a rectangular clump about the size of a sheet of paper. They work...
I possess a set of tact-tile like clear hex tiles, and they're wonderful. Admittedly, we rarely put anything under them, but it's nice to be able to do so at any time.
Survivor's Guilt? Boy, that makes an incredible amount of sense out of V's actions. I'd have to assume that Rich planned that all along--and has been stringing us along masterfully! Of course, who would V have told? Haley is the only party member V seems close to. And doubling V's distress with...
Ought to check for 20-sided d10s, too! I made that mistake, once...
But on the whole, this group sounds pretty sad. But there are people for whom tactics are an alien, inexplicable concept--if you've ended up with a whole group of such, D&D probably just won't make it.
Given the popularity of Diablo 2, I'm thinking you plan might not pan out well. Unless you want people to assume he's a god of destruction and phat loot drops ;)
As an alternative, how about Mithras? it was an imported Roman god, very popular with the Roman armies. some info here.
The closest I can think of is the Dragonlance novels (The Twins Trilogy) that involved time travel (and some time alterations).
What I'd think would be the most important is to decide two things:
Can the PC's change the past (in any meaningful way)? In the first time travel segment of the...
I haven't yet seen any really plausible ideas for one. As far as I know, Arcane is the only source with all 4 roles in announced products (Swordmage, Bard, Warlock, Wizard). The Invoker is supposed to be a Divine Controller, so Divine is just missing Striker (I think). Primal has a Striker and...
True, but not really where I was going with this. Mostly, I was saying that (from a 4e-mindset) Elric would actually be better mechanically modelled as a Martial character with Ritual Casting; he never uses on the fly magical effects that I can recall, and spends quite a lot of time in armor...
Several people have mentioned Elric, but I'm not sure he's actually an example of this. From what I recall, his spells are always ritual-type affairs; in 4e he could probably be a Fighter or Warlord with Ritual Casting.
I was about to say yes, that Gandalf wears armor--but I went back and looked, and the scene I was thinking of (towards the end, when they stop in Bree on the way home) mentions the *hobbits* wearing armor, but describes Gandalf as wearing new garb with no mention of armor. So apparently not...
It's worth noting that there was a devil-people race (more or less) all the way back in the Immortals set as well, called Diabolus. Don't know if this had any influence on Tieflings, though.
I kind of feel Brute Strike is a little underpowered; Reliable is nice, but it doesn't provide any effect *this* turn. But yah, Lasting Threat is strictly better and an errata needs to be issued on this. But it may be that it's Brute Strike that needs the errata.
That's a real problem! My current cards are 3x5 index cards--cut into 3 separate cards. As soon as I can get the time to do the formatting, I'm going to use some print-your-own business cards (10/sheet) for this. But I suspect that every once in a while a power won't condense onto one card...
BTW, here's the character sheet I'm using. This one still has all the powers listed on it, although those will be removed (probably the next time I level up). The cards are the same as the powers on this sheet; I just print them--three to a 3x5 card!--and cut them out.
I voted 'cards', but what I'm finding is that having cards for encounters & daily powers and at-wills on the sheet works best. That way, I can track usage by discarding. At low levels anyway, just about everything that's effectively at-will (including basic attacks, class abilities, skills...
