    New Faction Rank Document!

FWIW, I'm told that the "500 downtime days" thing is going to be reduced in the next season's player's guide. It probably hasn't been that high of a priority, what with the lack of actual tier 4 play until very recently.

    Fai Chens' and Uncerted Items

The Fai Chen's at CarnageCon last weekend seemed to work as Kalani said, you could trade uncerted items for Gently Used ones (i.e. stuff people had traded in), but you couldn't trade them for new certed items.

    Request: Reduce DM Award Gold

FWIW, I'm fine with that, but if it's the case it should really be worded so it's clear that it's specifically referring to adventures that don't include their own rules. It's easy to misinterpret, especially if misinterpreting it gets you 2-3x the reward ;-) (I'd also recommend that subsequent...

    Request: Reduce DM Award Gold

Yes, I've seen that as well, although I can't find any examples with some quick searching around. The two sentences prior to what you quoted aren't specific about what adventures should use the chart and what shouldn't though. <quote>D&D Adventurers League adventures award the Dungeon Master...

    Request: Reduce DM Award Gold

That's what I had originally heard as well, but to be fair, nothing in the current AL DM's Guide says that, the only way you get to that interpretation of the rule is via "specific trumps general". The section on DM Rewards never mentions that rewards can be specified in the adventure.

    Request: Reduce DM Award Gold

That's not how it was explained the last time I saw this discussed, if it is true I'd love to see a FAQ or something that confirms it (especially since I'm DMing some older adventures at a con in a few weeks!).

    Request: Reduce DM Award Gold

Honestly, I think that's more of a problem than anything else. There's a giant pile of adventures from early seasons that have hilariously small rewards associated with them. Players want to play them, because they're good adventures, so they get scheduled at cons and game days and whatever, but...

    [WOIN] Fantasy Core Is Here!

Just FYI, the rpgnow page describes this as "This manual contains the core rules of the What's O.L.D. is N.E.W. roleplaying game system, designed for a futuristic campaign.", presumably you meant "fantastic" campaign, not "futuristic".

New ALPG (and ALDMG) have dropped!

No, you haven't missed anything. The Basic Rules exist in addition to the SRD, there's no replacement.

What's an OGL? An SRD? What's OGC? A Quick Primer!

Of course you can use any other OGL stuff you want, be it from pathfinder, from older editions of D&D, whatever. I mean look at http://5srd.com's monsters, they all use descriptions from Pathfinder (under the OGL) because the 5e SRD doesn't come with descriptions. This is totally ok. I expect...

    Thoughts on running Death House

I can see them thinking it was safe enough in the first half of the adventure, but it's also hard to imagine them actually expending enough resources to need to. In the second half they should be punished for trying ;-)

    Necromancy and AL

If I thought all you were advocating was just checking for math errors than I'd be fine with it. I'd still think it was a huge waste of time, but whatever. That doesn't fit with the other stuff you're objecting to though, and that's concerning to me. There are plenty of places where players can...

    Necromancy and AL

I'm sorry, but treating one set of players differently from others because you know the "provenance" of their characters is contrary to the spirit of organized play. If the AL doesn't bother to have some sort of tracking system for this games played, items found, etc than the honor system is all...

    Necromancy and AL

Wow, so anyone who happens to show up in your store on a business trip is all of a sudden going to be interrogated before they can use their magic items? Better hope you actually know the home game they play in otherwise they're assumed to be cheating? You must have some real problems with...

D&D 5E (2014) What Magic System do you prefer?

I always found it super weird that casting a spell would wipe all knowledge of it from a caster's mind. There's a lot of cognitive dissonance between that and basically all fantasy fiction that's not explicitly D&D based. It also has awkward game level interactions where you have to explicitly...

D&D Adventurer's League vs. Pathfinder Society

Combat can definitely be a bit swingy at first level. On the bright side, there's a lot of healing built in to the system, so assuming you avoid a TPK and your DM isn't putting you up against something that can literally one-shot your PC you should get through it, partially because level 1 (and...

D&D 5E (2014) Why Has D&D, and 5e in Particular, Gone Down the Road of Ubiquitous Magic?

I was personally referring to D&D adventurers league stuff (since that's much of what I play), which is set in the Forgotten Realms. You'd think that the pseudo-default setting of the game would match what WotC says in the PHB, but no, apparently every neighborhood church in the realms is just...

D&D 5E (2014) Why Has D&D, and 5e in Particular, Gone Down the Road of Ubiquitous Magic?

You know, WotC may say that in the rulebooks, but I'm calling BS. Every time I play one of their adventures I sure seem to have zero trouble finding someone to cast Cure Wounds or Lesser Restoration or whatever on my character for a small donation at the local temple.

Things that might be helpful to consider including in the CoS players guide

Yes. Prior to the DM's Guild all the adventures released in Dragon+ were AL adventures that hadn't been publicly available elsewhere, and their release made them legal for home play. Post DM's Guild the only one released in Dragon+ is Death House, which is an exert from Curse of Strahd, and it's...

D&D 5E (2014) What Magic System do you prefer?

Honestly, for the purposes of Playing D&D my favorite is the 5e system as written. It solves so many problems I previously had, I can't imagine going back. That said, I think it's a stupid way to represent magic as actually seen in most Fantasy Fiction, but we're talking about Playing D&D here...
