D&D General Has the OGL/WotC debacle motivated you to create your own Fantasy Heartbreaker or homebrew?

I already had a list of official rules options, third party material (new classes, subclasses, a few spells , revised mechanics, etc), and a few of my own house rules prepared if I run 5e (same for 3e if I were to run it again). However, given everything going on with the OGL, I might be able to...

95% of you didn't need the OGL and you don't need ORC

He can't. Spelljammer is IP and not Open Content. Thus, it can only be sold on DMsGuild, because WOTC has given permission to use Spelljammer for products sold on DMsGuild.

D&D 5E (2014) Do you ACTUALLY use 3rd Party Books?

I have not run 5e, but my future plan was to use plenty of third party material from Drivethrurpg, DMsGuild, r/Unearthed Arcana, GM Binder, and some websites. As for non-core books by WOTC, I only planned to use some new feats and Fighter material (no new sub-classes) from Tasha's. This...

    WotC New Feature: Open D&D

Once you download the template to which I linked and make changes to your copy, the guys at Roll For Combat said post it online where others can easily find it. I posted it here. You can do the same. However, if you have a website, you can post it there and tweet a link or make a thread posting...

    WotC New Feature: Open D&D

Here is the template link. You need to change the title and a few other things. Be sure to change everything highlighted in the form including the last line at the bottom. Also change the name from Viva La Revolution as everyone should use a unique name for the feature...

    WotC New Feature: Open D&D

(edit: mods (@Umbran or @Morrus , please move this thread to a forum where I change it to use the OGL prefix. Thank you) Hope it is ok to publish this here (see attachment). Note: I used a template provided by Roll For Combat on their YouTube channel for creating an OGL 1.0a item. It is a...

    Can WotC be forgiven?

I would will question their honesty as they sent it to third party publisher with contracts attached.

The OGL -- Just What's Going On?

Does it say anything about making OGL v1.0b that is just v1.0a with the words irrevocable and cannot be unauthorized? If not, we cannot trust them to not get rid of the older OGL at a future date.

    Congratulations WotC...

Lol@. I was just going to post, I have started seeing memes "Congratulations! Habro/WOTC, in one week you set your brand on fire!" (or something to that effect).

OGL: What Are The Publishers Saying [UPDATED]

I agree. It is my favorite system for non-supers gaming (for supers, it is Icons: Assembled Edition).

OGL: What Are The Publishers Saying [UPDATED]

As an aside, Pinnacle Entertainment recently posted that there was an unexpected frantic buying of the Savage Worlds core rulebook print version that has resulted in it being sold out. I wonder how much that was in response to Hasbro/WOTC's leaked document.

    Battlezoo Shares The OGL v1.1

I know several YouTubers are moving away from discussing 5e. Arcane Library is scrubbing their Kickstarter of OGL material, Dungeon Craft will not be talking anymore about 5e or OneD&D (instead, focusing soley upon OSR and Indie games), and Dungeon Coach has announced transitioning from 5e to...

D&D General Are you jumping ship? What will you be switching to?

My plan before getting COVID was to run 5e for friends. Now, if and when I stop brain fogging, my plans for fantasy include Savage Worlds, Fantasy Age, Barbarians of Lemuria/ Legend of Steel, and, maybe, Fantasy Craft, Tiny Dungeon, BASH! Fantasy. All depends on the players and what I am...

    Battlezoo Shares The OGL v1.1

Maybe, maybe not. One petition has over 15K signatures in just a couple of days- a day or two ago there was only a thousad. Another petition on change.org has even more (and there are several pages of smaller petitions). So this may just be getting started. Several gamer friends on FB are...

    So what DOES 1.1 allow?

Isn't the crowd source royalty on separate terms from print/pdf revenue without crowdsourcing?

    Battlezoo Shares The OGL v1.1

Yes, it is fair. Maybe you were not around back when the OGL first came out. One of the intentions, as stated by Dancey (the VP at the time) was to keep 3e alive if owners changed it or took it off the market. The other was to create new games that kept people in the orbit of 3e. When people...
