Slayer Fighter build would be easiest, followed by a Knight. The Knight build is less simple because she'll need to remember to use powers that trigger in certain situations, which a newbie is likely to forget. Slayer is straight up: I have a sword, and try to kill stuff with it. Dead simple.

Then I take it you missed a few posts down the thread where it said that Wizards said the update would be today. This thread began more than a week ago, when someone was upset there'd be no update, but other posters said that there would be one on the 21st.

Unfortunately with Halflings, Gnomes, etc you also have the problem of Weapon shrinkage screwing you over.

Can you target an ally with Hypnotism? I don't see why you *shouldn't* be able to- and if you can, that is even better than the Warlord's at-will.

Another idea: adapt an adventure written for 2e. There have been dozens, all made into pdf. Surely you bought some before Wizards pulled the plug.

They can't do it, for a very simple reason. If they do, it will be 4.5 - and they've invested so much capital into the "we'll never make 4.5 no matter what" that they can't do it, regardless of if it makes sense or not.
