    [Heroic Solos] Lividius, Tiefling Murderer

Oh, right. I was using the skirmisher HP. That teaches me to do math at midnight.

Ranger (Hunter) is a Martial and Primal Controller

I like that they're breaking their assumed restrictions of power source. It could lead to some interesting things, even all new classes. Though pretty much any class that uses a weapon could have "martial" tagged on to them. I hope that doesn't happen. Save it for barbarians, swordmages...

    [Heroic Solos] Lividius, Tiefling Murderer

Sure, you're hitting most of the time, but factor in its brute HP, and it'll take longer than it should. Also, going backwards from its HP, it has a 20 Constitution. He has a lot of hit points; he should have less defenses to balance it out a tad, or do less damage, or have less HP. He seems...

    Ardent Epic Destiny: World Mood

Tell me what you think. I included every idea I had, so it's probably overpowered. It's easier to tone it down than to boost it up, though. WORLD MOOD Your emotions affect the state of the world. Wars start when you are irate, and peactime comes when you relax. Famine strikes when you...

    [Heroic Solos] Lividius, Tiefling Murderer

Looks awesome! I don't pretend to know the math, but it looks like this guy will be doing a lot of damage. I guess that's okay since he's a brute, but his defenses seem a bit high. I'd probably lower them a tad if I used him, maybe having them go back to normal when he's bloodied.

Why the Modern D&D variants will not attract new players

D&D 4e attracted me to tabletop roleplaying games. I've since taught the game to ten other people, none of whom had ever played tabletop roleplaying games before, some of whom had never played computer roleplaying games before, and they all understood it after a few weeks at most. I've looked...

    The Three Act Goblin

Sounds like a good idea! If you want to see an example of a level 1 solo, pick up the Dark Sun Creature Catalog. The monsters in there can make for a great desert/horror/abberant game! Also, next week I'm planning on posting a level 1 solo skirmisher on my blog... =)

    D&D 4E 4e Ranger Build (yes, I'm a newbie)

Fighter is an obvious choice; it uses your high strength and wisdom (and dexterity, if you are planning on increasing that too) and makes you better in melee. Warden is a good choice if you want to be primal, it gives you melee power like the fighter and magical abilities. Paladin is another...

    The Three Act Goblin

Looking good. A few comments: 1d3 doesn't exist in 4e, but by all means use it if you like it. As a solo, he needs the ability to make 2 attacks as a standard action/2 attacks as a minor action/1 attack as an immediate interrupt, or some similar combination (5 attacks per round, not...

    Class Compendium: Heroes of Legend

I think it will be a reprinting of the PHB1 classes with their errata. It will likely contain updated feats as well. I bet that after "Heroes of Legend" will come "Heroes of the Wilderness" or something, detailing the PHB2 classes, and then "Heroes of Mystery" with PHB3 classes (I just made up...

    SKILL CHALLENGE: Castle Siege

If you don't mind, I kidnapped your idea and made it into a full skill challenge, which you can see here. I used zombies instead of demons, because it's more standard, but you can easily substitute in demons. How did your version work out?

    Hat's off to WotC for...

Whether or not Essentials is good, the original design is good too, and I want to see a mixture of Essentials and "old" stuff in the future.

    Play-by-Skype

Play-by-post just doesn't work for 4e. You need to be live to run 4e combat, period. I know people use maptools or something like that, and I've heard of Skype being used for D&D games. Would play-by-Skype text chat work well? What are the pros and cons?

    Traps and the XP Budget

If you're using a trap that can attack at range, like a dart gun trap, it's like a normal monster, able to attack each round until disabled (which should be just as difficult as killing a normal monster; a few Thievery checks, not just one). If you're using a trap that only triggers when a...

    Core D&D Themes

This one's a little rough around the edges; it might be a bit too powerful, but might be just right. What do you think? EMPATH - Secondary Role: Leader - Power Source: Psionic - Granted Power: You add the Insight skill to your class skills list and gain the understanding power...

    The Three Act Goblin

Most solos already have two acts built into them; they get some power boost when they're bloodied. Sometimes it's very subtle, like a dragon recharging its breath weapon and using it immediately. Sometimes it's extremely obvious, like Lolth transforming into a huge drider. Mostly it's in...

    D&D 4E 4e Ranger Build (yes, I'm a newbie)

I'd stick with two-weapon fighting and ditch Prime Shot for Running Attack (Martial Power 2), especially since you have Marauder's Rush. Otherwise, it looks quite good!

    Hat's off to WotC for...

I've never played Dark Sun before 4e, but the Campaign Guide introduced many things into the game that I really love. Themes are the best! The new races are awesome, and I love the possibility of arcane defiling, even in a core game. Plus the Creature Catalog has the first ever level 1 solo!

4th ed artificer... like it or hate it?

I agree with this 100%, and it's worth repeating. The artificer is awesome because it feels so different from your standard leader. As an artificer, you lead through your allies' magic items. You have so much versatility you won't know what to do with it (I'm exaggerating, you will know what...

    D&D 4E Most useless 4e Feat?

I have a houserule written in my book next to Linguist: You gain a +2 bonus to skill checks made when conversing with creatures in their native tongue if you have this feat. No longer useless! Not that anyone still takes it. Mounted Combat is not even considered by me or my players. It just...
