D&D 5E (2024) 5e Aasimar are in the Players Handbook − what should the flavor be?

To be sure, though keeping them in the '24 PHB might justify adding in a few new tiefling lineages as well (not that I have anything in particular in mind on that front). Also would help to keep all of the people who will otherwise reflexively complain that "They took away Fallen Aasimar!!!" happy.

D&D 5E (2024) 5e Aasimar are in the Players Handbook − what should the flavor be?

More or less what I'm hoping for - repurpose the first-draft ardling's Heavenly/Idyllic/Exalted lineages as new options for the aasimar alongside the existing Protector/Scourge/Fallen "angelic" lineage options.

D&D 5E (2024) Mystara in new edition confirmed

For what it's worth, the adventure in the new Planescape has a brief appearance by the shadar-kai Farrow, who (like his 2e shadow elf incarnation) is explicitly noted as being from the material plane world of Mystara. Doesn't go into any further detail, but thought it was worth a mention.

    D&D 5E (2024) More D&D 2024 Tidbits: Aasimar, Goliaths, Town-Eating Gelatinous Cubes

I don't think they'd bring back the ardling as a "now you can play a guardinal-themed aasimar", but I could definitely see it popping back up for all the people who want "tabaxi, but dog/deer/[insert animal here]". That's more or less what I mean by "animal person" instead of "celestial...

    D&D 5E (2024) More D&D 2024 Tidbits: Aasimar, Goliaths, Town-Eating Gelatinous Cubes

I happened to like the first draft of the ardling, at least in concept, because I felt it created a distinction between "celestial" (i.e. archon/guardinal/etc.) planetouched and what I'd call "divine" (i.e. angelic) planetouched, which played into one of the very few 4e-isms that I wish they'd...

    D&D 5E (2024) More D&D 2024 Tidbits: Aasimar, Goliaths, Town-Eating Gelatinous Cubes

Says Bastions are in the '24 core rules, not that they're in the PHB. Seems more likely to be an optional system in the DMG to me.

D&D 5E (2024) What do people think of the new dragon designs?

Wouldn't be against bringing back some of the more obscure chromatic/metallic/gem dragons, to say nothing of lung dragons, linnorms, 4e cataclysmic dragons, etc. Assuming Fizban's rather authoritative stance on "anyone who claims they've seen a type of dragon not explicitly enumerated in this...

    D&D 5E (2024) More D&D 2024 Tidbits: Aasimar, Goliaths, Town-Eating Gelatinous Cubes

I think they said challenge ratings for existing monsters were going to stay the same, but that they'd be reworking the monster statblocks to bring them more in line with the ratings they have, where needed.

D&D 5E (2024) What do people think of the new dragon designs?

Ah, I see. Was a big dinosaur nut as a kid, but I've been mostly removed from paleontology circles as an adult, so I wasn't aware of there being any particularly heated discourse on the subject.

D&D 5E (2024) What do people think of the new dragon designs?

Can't say I'm familiar with it, so... Apologies? Shrugs I'm a big fan of the manga One Piece, which had a character that can turn into a Spinosaurus during its last major arc (characters that can shapeshift into one type of animal or another is a pretty standard thing in the series), and the...

D&D 5E (2024) What do people think of the new dragon designs?

Reminds me of the Spinosaurus tail discovery from a few years back.

D&D 5E (2024) What do people think of the new dragon designs?

Only design I don't really care for is the new blue dragon... It doesn't say "desert dweller" to me in the way that the 3e-era design did, with the mixed blue and yellow/tan/gold color scheme. Looks more like a "storm" dragon design, perhaps even ocean-dwelling, like the bronze.

I wouldn't be against promoting genasi to the PHB, necessarily, though there does come a point where page space becomes a concern, and short of reintroducing para- and/or quasi-genasi, I'm not sure there's anything to add there that MotM doesn't already provide. By contrast, we know goliaths...

    D&D 5E (2024) New D&D Edition's Player’s Handbook Cover Reveal

If ardlings do come back at some point, it'll probably be as the all-purpose "animal person" we got for their second UA draft, with minimal celestial ties, if any.

Honestly, no idea. Just throwing them in there as a placeholder for "major CG celestial subgroup" because they haven't delved into that corner of the planes enough since "relocating" eladrin to the Feywild in 4e to give us an idea of the who the big name celestials in Arborea are these days...

D&D 5E (2024) Aasimar, Crafting Rules, and more in Gameinformer Magazine feature

To be sure, not saying the existing options should be deprecated or removed - they'll still be in Monsters of the Multiverse (which is supposed to be compatible with the '24 revision), regardless. Just saying that I'd like some options less blatantly tied to "angelic" heritage and more to other...

D&D 5E (2014) When is WOTC going to release another Forgotten Realms adventure?

Phandelver is set in FR, and they announced that they have a "Red Wizards of Thay" adventure planned for 2025 some time ago - back around when we first got confirmation of the Vecna adventure, I believe.

D&D 5E (2024) Aasimar, Crafting Rules, and more in Gameinformer Magazine feature

Wonder if they'll give the PHB Aasimar a new set of celestial lineages to choose from that represent a LG/NG/CG planar connection to parallel the '24 Tiefling's Infernal(LE)/Chthonic(NE)/Abyssal(CE) choice, or just stick with the established Protector/Scourge/Fallen "angelic" options from...
