    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Warlock"

Always assumed the "Hexblade" referred to the warlock's sentient weapon, myself, since that's essentially supposed to be the patron (or the vehicle through which the patron operates). At least within the context of 5e.

D&D 5E (2014) What comes after the 2025 Monster Manual?

They've mentioned an adventure module involving the Red Wizards of Thay for 2025, and something involving Venger somewhere down the line. Beyond that, I don't think we know anything. They'll probably announce 2025's line up later this year.

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Warlock"

I think it's technically "The Hexblade" - people just tend to drop the "The" out of expediency. But yeah, most likely would need a new name if it's no longer explicitly linked to a weapon.

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Warlock"

More or less the idea. Let the new blade pact carry the weapon-focused aspects and redesign the "Hexblade" into a Shadowfell patron viable for any kind of warlock build.

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Warlock"

Teleportation was definitely built up as the eladrin's schtick in 4e, and I think that may have bled over into fey in general ever since. Rather than "teleportation", per se, I think the idea is intended more as briefly stepping out of the Material Plane and into the Feywild, then back again...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Warlock"

I've had a concept floating around my head for an "amnesiac" Reborn Hexblade Warlock whose story begins by being found hanging by the neck from a tree with a broken off spearhead embedded in their ribcage. The spearhead claims to be all that remains of Gungnir (the spear of the Norse god Odin)...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Warlock"

They didn't say in the video, and the D&D Beyond article is delayed until later this week. In general, they didn't go into much detail on specific invocations.

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Warlock"

I honestly think it would work quite well as the starting point for a proper "Shadowfell" patron to parallel the Archfey.

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Warlock"

The portion of Hexblade that is just "look, we fixed blade pact", yes. I'd argue there's still plenty of room for a proper "Shadowfell" patron focusing on dark shadow magic, hexes, and curses, though... With a bit of work (and perhaps a new name), a revised Hexblade could fill that role pretty...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Warlock"

I don't know about "intentionally holding back", but they were always going to have to follow the '24 core rules up with a new "Everything"-style book relatively quickly, if only to finish updating all the baseline cleric domains and wizard schools they cut to get the PHB subclass counts down to...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Warlock"

May also be a matter where these are just the options earmarked for the PHB and books down the line might include familiar options where appropriate, like how every new beast statblock in a book is an expansion to a druid's wild shape form options. The '14 Monster Manual had an Imp statblock...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Warlock"

I got the opposite impression, for the most part. They said that a lot of existing invocation prerequisites were lowered, but also that some invocations that didn't previously have prerequisites now do - presumably the ones that they don't want available immediately at level 1 for whatever reason.

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Warlock"

Yeah, pretty much... Maybe the Beyond article will go into a bit more detail. ...Sounds about right.

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Warlock"

Wished they'd gone into more detail on various invocations, but that'd likely have added another 10+ minutes to the video...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook Reveal: Feats/Backgrounds/Species

Need to go back through their videos from early last week to double check the exact wording, but that was how I understood the matter. They've had floating ASIs since Tasha's, but found that it was counterintuitively not resulting in more varied sets of character statblocks. Most people were...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook Reveal: "New Rogue"

I have no horse in this particular race. Just noting that "They didn't mention X in the video" isn't necessarily the same as "They confirmed X is no longer a thing".

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook Reveal: "New Rogue"

Absence of evidence is not evidence of abscence. Just because they didn't talk about it doesn't mean it isn't still there. Need to wait until we get the full text, or at least confirmation from someone who has seen it. Maybe the changes article on Beyond will say something. EDIT: Article's up...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook Reveal: Feats/Backgrounds/Species

And in general I agree. I would have been fine with keeping floating ASI. But WotC seemingly views floating ASI as the implied equivalent of making ASI class-locked instead - which makes sense on some level, given that there are natural incentives to using them to boost whatever your character...
