    AD&D First Edition inferior?

Play is the operative word here. A casual gamer is not going to run a game. Thus your casual gamer is only going to need the PHB. If a casual gamer feels like he has to have all three books to play, he's not that casual. :) And if you care, you can also repsond to my post on Page 11 that...

    AD&D First Edition inferior?

First off 1.) At a 128 pages for $20, I’d ask you not to expect color, or a hard cover. In fact the cover would probably be a very flimsy soft cover, which sounds good to me. J I am not a part of this whole “hardcover” fad. Just look at what Palladium is offering for $15, you'll get an idea of...

    AD&D First Edition inferior?

That's funny, it only cost me $20 to RUN, not play 3ed. for almost a year. I got the PHB after I was convinced the game had the flexibility to run the games I wanted to run, not the games that WotC/TSR wanted to run. :) With only the PHB, I converted and ran a Castle Falkenstein game and even...

    AD&D First Edition inferior?

Well, I always thought it was for the simplist reason of all, convience. A DM could open a 3e module and run it without opening the MM. In fact, I knew DMs who ran adventures for months without even buying a MM for a while -- I was one of them. I only really got the MM when I decided to that I...

    Do you use psionics?

Too fantasy and weak/too scifi and unlimted: And people wonder why the psionic rules never seem to please anyone.

Does Muntants and Masterminds have no hit points?

optional hit points! Don't do that! Someone might reverse engineer the rule and then you would have ... DND without hitpoints! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! *runs around in a panic, until he runs into a tree branch and then lays out on the lawn*

    Do you use psionics?

Other for a couple of reasons: Playing: Few DMs I have played with want to deal psionics, because they feel they have enough to deal with already or don’t want to buy the book. For those DM that did sound interested: The first DM was doing a high-level one shot slugfest and didn’t even read...

Does Muntants and Masterminds have no hit points?

I was looking at their 4 page pdf preview and if I am reading it right, there is no class or hit points to the system. There seems to be a small chart that compares something like a defense roll to a damage roll. If a damage roll is successful, it wears down the defense roll until a character...

    Airships

I played around with a simliar idea once. The Roman Empire in the clouds, with winged romans. Can you imagine a legion of roman spearmen dropping their spears on the barbarians below. Ouch!

Dragonstar: Would Psionics be better for Spellware?

I don't know why I didn't think of it before, but with Psionic powers being more defined (no scaling and each enhanced version of a power is its own power slot) and less "flashy" with the special effects (as in the powers themselves, not including manifestations), the psionic powers seem to suit...

    Farscape Rpg

Grumble Grumble I wish I had checked your site out about two hours ago, it would have saved me a trip to Kinko's for character sheets.

Anyone know a good SciFi game?

*whack!* I am ashamed and forgot to mention Trinity. I was running a game of it only 3 months ago. It's not a "White Wolf Depressing Game," and it does what good SF does, which is explore how society changes with new science. Very tweakable so you could do anything from Aliens and The Thing...

I'm sick to death of dwarves, elves, halflings, and gnomes!

Well, first off you refuse to hiss your "s," even if the DM thinks it's cute. Second, you use some of the older ribal languages that use clicks and popping sounds since Lizards don't have lips.

    AD&D First Edition inferior?

Ahh, miscommunication. It's generaly assumed in conversation that 1st ed. is the hardbound book, not the boxed set. In the future, you may want to define that, or you could be seen as "baiting" people. And I see that you forgot to include the final sentence in that quote. :)

    My first Farscape mission.

Well, it was a last minute thing, but we put together a beginning Farscape adventure and had a blast. THE CAST Capt. Cornelius, a simian-looking space Pirate that was Offshoot Sebacian. A Luxan Priest A Luxan Warrior A Delvian Mystic "Hot Time On The Town" One by one, the players explained...

    AD&D First Edition inferior?

I guess that depends on who you gamed with. The only time I saw a human thief was when I played one myself, since being a halfling "front loaded" your thief character. And the last time I checked, there where many more examples of human thief fantasy characters compared to the two hobbit...

    AD&D First Edition inferior?

For some people, you proved their point, with 3ed, there is no need to write 20 numbers down just to remind yourself what you needed.
