Help me list spells that make skills irrelevant.

Let's not get into Wish wording in this awesome thread, it's just sure to derail everything.

    Two magic items needed

There's a 5HD aberration in... some Forgotten Realms book? It is size Huge and has a Fly speed, as well as OK strength. Any necromancing Cleric, even in E6, can raise it as a zombie. Tie a platform to it, and you have mass transport that doesn't need upkeep, never gets tired - the works!

Need help with a dispute re: Druids and shared spells

Hmm... in spite of the rules quotation seeming to support side A, I'd say it actually supports side B: If they took the trouble of pointing out that type difference makes no matter, but didn't do so for alignment as well (or other possible factors, such as size, special qualities etc.), then...

    D&D 3.x 3.5 when are you no longer flat-footed

He who useth software to DM a game of D&D, Needeth he an iPhone app to roll dice? Useth he the audiobook version of the PHB to read it? Needeth he a robot to bind his shoelaces? Verily, retarded be he who can not interpret simple lines in a rulebook without the 'aid' of an engineered apparatus...

    D&D 3.x 3.5 when are you no longer flat-footed

From the SRD: So when you have the chance to act, i.e. on your first turn, you lose the flat-footed condition. So you wouldn't, for example, lose your Dex bonus to AC against attacks of opportunity you provoke during your first turn (unless you're balancing or something).

Help me list spells that make skills irrelevant.

Well, in my game, autumn leaves or a gravel floor would impose penalties on Move Silently checks. Flying would negate the penalties, but not the need for a check itself. If the character were also naked at the time... sure, I'd give a big bonus for that roll. But it's not as if this were...

    Do you roll NPC/Monster stats?

The very special NPCs I build from the ground up, using the same point buy method for ability scores that the PCs get. Keeps things fair, although my optimization knowledge goes a few levels deeper than that of my players. I usually use that knowledge to make the NPC interesting, not...

    3. x Does D&D have a "Watcher" creature?

Seems Marvel's DM made the mistake of giving The Watcher official stats then! :p

    Pathfinder 1E Skill Rank Question

To fulfill PrC prereqs etc., you'll have to build level-for-level anyways, at least a lot of the time. I'm not arguing ease of play though, I just think it's strange is all.

    Pathfinder 1E Skill Rank Question

To me, for HP it makes sense, for skills... nah. How much you learn depends on your intelligence at the time of learning, not weeks or even years later. Do people suddenly receive a boost to their skills when they turn 45 in PF? Isn't that a little retarded?

    Pathfinder 1E Skill Rank Question

In 3.5, you do not gain skillpoints retroactively when your Int is raised. Is this different in Pathfinder? I cannot find a corresponding rule, but still...

    Pathfinder 1E Skill Rank Question

Summer-Knight925: I believe your answer was likely totally sufficient for the OP. However, I like to answer rules questions in the precise game terms that are used in the books. This can help avoid further questions down the road. I wasn't trying to badmouth your explanation!

    Pathfinder 1E Skill Rank Question

Close, but not quite. For all practical matters and purposes, HD = level. However, the original creators of D&D should have used a thesaurus when it came to the word 'level'. There's class levels, and character level. Your skill ranks may not exceed your character level (which is exactly equal...

Pathfinder 1E What catches fire with Burning Hands?

Generally, creatures are not affected by secondary effects of spells unless this is specifically spelled out. Some spell descriptions (like this one) spell out that the spell can set creatures alight and cause ongoing damage. Burning Hands doesn't do this. So it's generally safe to assume that...

    Item of Infinite Magic Missiles?

Magic Missile at will, you ask? I know an item which does that. It's called a Wand of Magic Missile! What? Only 50 charges, you say? Just try it out in the game, see if you ever burn through those 50 charges. I hold that even in a campaign with lots of Shadows, Wraiths etc., you won't ever use...

    Hit Dice

A CR 1/2 Orc deals 1d12+3 damage in 3.0. Which is tripled on a crit. A lucky crit from a lowly Orc can outright kill a 4th level character. So much for HP inflation. Sure, in 3.5, Orcs are usually equipped with "lowly" Falchions as per the Monster Manual entry. But they've also got higher Str...

Pathfinder 1E How does the magus perform at high levels?

Concerning the concentration thingy: Kobolds can select a favored class benefit to hugely help out here, making Combat Casting moot. If you want to play a Kobold that is. :p

    Wartime Battle missions

Also, Disguise Self is a 1st level spell etc. A dragon infiltrating human society by using Alternate Form would surely be able to mask itself perfectly, at least where looks are concerned!

    D&D 3.x 3.5 Question About Grapple

To be completely honest, I could never grasped what part in particular people dislike about 3.x grapple rules. In my opinion, they cover an entire subsection of combat, which has enough variety in it to support various real-world fighting arts/sports, without clogging up the game. The grapple...

    The Crown of Endless Sorrows

"Crown of rulership"? You know what a crown signifies, right? How about calling it just Crown++ (that's C++ for short)?
