Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

A coworker referred to her daughter today as a "sparkling tornado." Maybe that's a common turn of phrase, but it was new to me, and it's perfect.

Yeah, poker chips are great, but I just like the extra convenience of my status marker sticking to and moving with the mini. That said, use some blue tac and you can save a lot more money and time by just using poker chips. Could also replace minis and pogs with poker chips, but I enjoy...

D&D General Economist Articles: How did "Dungeons & Dragons" Win?

Was this covered already? Came out on the 6th, but I didn't see it until today: https://www.economist.com/culture/2024/12/06/how-did-dungeons-and-dragons-win (behind a pay/register wall) The digital article is titled "How did 'Dungeons & Dragons' Win?" In the print version it was titled...

    D&D 5E (2024) 3 Months in - Weapon Mastery

Why? How does using DDB beyond digital dice slow things down? If playing in person, I wouldn't allow it because we agree that everyone rolls physical dice out in the open. But, if anything, I would think rolling on DDB would speed things up.

    Playing without the GM present?

I would love it if that happened with my players. But we are all busy with jobs and family. I have some players who are interested in having e-mail back and forth with me regarding downtime activities etc. But generally they are only engaging with the game when we are playing it. In the OPs...

I would hope it would be a family law case. I don't think I could handle a harassing Santa.

Now I want a parody of Elmo and Patsy's Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer sung by Saul Goodman as a late night lawyer commercial.

They are also good to put under minis to indicate status effect. I had moved to using Alea Tools Magnetic Status markers. You have to stick small metal stickers on the bottom your mini's bases to get the most of them. However, to save money and time I bought a Silhouette paper cutter to cut out...

D&D 5E (2014) D&D Slot Machines and a Legends of Greyhawk Magiccon campaign from WotC

Well, if the D&D slot machines are as loose with coin as the typical game is, I'm all for them!

D&D General The D&D Memes Thread

BEGINNING OF A NEW CAMPAIGN Players: How about we play a superheros campaign this time? DM: I don't really like running superheros campaigns. Let's just play D&D again. PARTY REACHES TIER 4 LEVELS IN THEIR D&D CAMPAIGN

OSR Does "Old School" in OSR only apply to D&D?

Is OSR just an adjective for "retroclone"? What little I've read about the OSR "movement" or philosophy of game design, it emphasizes rulings over rules, player skill over character skill, high lethality, exploration, resource management, randomness and emergent storytelling, and...

OSR Does "Old School" in OSR only apply to D&D?

While I like all games I played in the '80s being considered "old school", in practice the term OSR loses all value for me outside of D&D. If someone advertises their game as OSR, I expect an OD&D retroclone like Swords & Wizardry or something like that. If someone says they are running an OSR...

How to Tell a Player, "No"?

Just tell the player that you are not comfortable with this for the first campaign you are running for the group. It seems that this one player is already causing you discomfort and sucking up your time trying to find ways to accommodate his wishes. Putting together a new campaign for a new...

Most Useful and Used Cross-System RPG Product for VIRTUAL Play

There is another thread (Your Most Useful and Most Used RPG Products) asking about most useful and used RPG products, but it felt like going into online play tools would be a bit of a derailment. So I thought I would start a new thread, specifically for assets used for online play. I'm...

Your Most Useful and Most Used RPG Products

One said thing about having to go to fully online play is that all my physical stuff is just stored away and hasn't been used in years. I could say "Foundry VTT" but that seems to not be in the spirit of the question. I would be like saying "my kitchen/game table" or "my laptop/smart phone". I...
