D&D General Which was your favourite Forgotten Realms Cosmology?

I use the original Great Wheel as that's what the Realms used at the start and I haven't changed it since. Generally I think the best cosmology for a setting is the one custom made for it, like Eberron's original cosmology before it was later incorporated into the 5E cosmology. Which cosmology...

Paizo Announces Pathfinder War of Immortals Meta Event

I know, but I thought this might be tying up loose ends and bringing the lore in line with the rules update.

Paizo Announces Pathfinder War of Immortals Meta Event

Is the War of the Immortals world-shaking event also serving to usher in the new Remastered rules update? Or it has nothing to do with that? I'm not playing Pathfinder, but I always enjoy following the Paizo meta-events. They remind me of the old days. But I know metaplots are generally reviled...

D&D General Does Earth (or at least a fantasy version of it) have a crystal sphere and exist in the D&D Cosmology?

Did any real-world pantheons - Egyptian pantheon, Greek pantheon, Norse pantheon, etc. - feature in 5E’s Planescape: Adventures in the Multiverse?

D&D General Which type of True Neutral are you?

I wasn't being tongue-in-cheek. I was just suggesting some new ways of thinking to stimulate thought. Mordenkainen's agenda seems to be to preserve a "status quo" on Oerth (and the planes) in a way he believes will ensure Oerth's survival and continued prosperity. Good doesn't believe this...

D&D General Which type of True Neutral are you?

Maybe Good and Evil can't exist without Balance? Balance came first and Good and Evil spawned from it. Maybe all ideologies are defined in relation to other ideologies?

D&D General Which type of True Neutral are you?

Or is that what Neutrality and the agents of “The Balance” want you to believe? Couldn’t you say Mordenkainen’s agenda is no less ideological than the schemes of Asmodeus or the meddling of Paladine? And who’s to say Neutrality is in the middle of Good and Evil? That thinking could be falling...

D&D General Which type of True Neutral are you?

I’ve always felt the Neutral types that want to “maintain the balance” like Mordenkainen and the Circle of Eight seem to have more of a leaning towards Good tendencies. For example, they’re always trying to thwart disaster happening to Oerth rather than seeing to its destruction. Also, it’s...

D&D General Does Earth (or at least a fantasy version of it) have a crystal sphere and exist in the D&D Cosmology?

Yep, this is a strange one. There's no way 'Common' would be the same on each world. I think most folk hand-waive it.

D&D General Does Earth (or at least a fantasy version of it) have a crystal sphere and exist in the D&D Cosmology?

Oh... I just found out crystal spheres don't exist in 5E Spelljammer. That doesn't really change much, though. We've still got solar systems (bubbles of Wildspace) bobbing in the Astral Sea. They just don't have a hard exterior envelope anymore. I wonder what the stars are now? They used to be...

D&D General Does Earth (or at least a fantasy version of it) have a crystal sphere and exist in the D&D Cosmology?

This is interesting. I assumed Athas would be in a crystal sphere. How would its solar system survive in the Astral/Phlogiston without a protective bubble?

D&D General Does Earth (or at least a fantasy version of it) have a crystal sphere and exist in the D&D Cosmology?

The 2E adventure Dawn of the Overmind attempted to do this. There was a crystal sphere called Truespace which followed the same physics of our real space. And from memory it was enormous in size.

D&D General Does Earth (or at least a fantasy version of it) have a crystal sphere and exist in the D&D Cosmology?

I think the idea of Aerth, Uerth, Yarth, Earth, etc. is one of Gary's that predates Spelljammer. I’m not sure if it’s official in the current D&D Cosmology.

D&D General Does Earth (or at least a fantasy version of it) have a crystal sphere and exist in the D&D Cosmology?

Oh, I forgot about that adventure, too - IM1 The Immortal Storm. Yes, the PCs travel to New York.

D&D General Does Earth (or at least a fantasy version of it) have a crystal sphere and exist in the D&D Cosmology?

Oh, yep. I forgot about Gothic Earth. In terms of flavor, you wouldn’t expect it to be in a crystal sphere, though. Maybe the tendrils of the Domain of Dread can reach into different cosmologies/dimensions. Maybe the planar monsters just happen to be identical in the Gothic Earth...

D&D General Does Earth (or at least a fantasy version of it) have a crystal sphere and exist in the D&D Cosmology?

Yep, that’d be the way to explain it. A different dimension. I don’t know if current D&D uses the term dimension, though. Going by the 3E Manual of the Planes, I think we’d have to say Earth, as we know it, would be explained as being in a different cosmology - one outside the D&D Cosmology...

D&D General Does Earth (or at least a fantasy version of it) have a crystal sphere and exist in the D&D Cosmology?

In the D&D Cosmology, countless worlds, along with their solar systems, are encased in crystal spheres that bob in the Astral Sea. You can travel between the worlds in a spelljammer ship. All the worlds share the same Prime Material Plane. I was wondering if our Earth, or at least a fantasy...

Pathfinder 1E Are there compelling reasons to upgrade to PF1 from 3.0?

Thanks, guys, for the info on PF2. I might stick with 3.0 for now and try to simplify some things. Combine some skills into one - like Spot/Listen as Perception and Hide/Move Silently as Stealth. And then maybe try out a simplified skill system like the ones presented in the Unearthed Arcana 3E...

D&D 5E (2014) Quest From The Infinite Staircase Adventures Revealed

Oh yep, fair enough. A different prime material plane would be a different cosmology, too - one that's outside of the D&D Cosmology. I might keep the starship in the D&D Cosmology somehow.
