    D&D 5E (2024) Monster Manual Organisation

That works for Pirate and Cultist. But if you want a Warrior it is under Warrior... aren't they also under Bugbear, Bullywug, Githyanki, Gnoll, Goblin, Hobogoblin, Kobold, and Sahuagin. If you want a Priest it is also under Sahuagin Priest and Kuo-toa Archpriest. Knight is also under...

    D&D 5E (2024) Monster Manual Organisation

Are they "people"? Or are only humanoids "people" the way the DMG presents it? Tangentially, How does the MM grouping Aasimar, Dragonborn, Dwarf, Elf, Gnome, Goliath Halfling, Human, Orc, Tiefling all by occupation fit with the logic of the rest of the MM?

    D&D 5E (2024) Monster Manual Organisation

I was thinking a Gas Spore and Shrieker were different, and so I would also list them separately. The MM doesn't.

I like that distinction. The Violet Fungus Necrohulk has a 7 Int, 14 Wis, and 10 Cha, when does something become more than a fungal hazard? (Even if that isn't, it is special in that it comes form a fungal hazard and so I can see listing it there). I guess I am still back in my 1e MM mode...

    D&D 5E (2024) Monster Manual Organisation

Shrieker, Gas Spore and Violet Fungus are all grouped, but not with Myconids. And iirc the Violet Fungus has two types under Fungus.

That just seemed an odd reason to me not to list them the same way the other dragons were in the index, that's all.

A gas spore and Shrieker feel a bit different too me too :-) As an aside, given that Violet fungi were with them too, I was kind of pleasantly surprised myconids got separated out.

    D&D 5E (2024) Monster Manual Organisation

What is the logic of Gas Spore and Shrieker being under Fungus (that is "Gas Spore Fungus" and "Shrieker Fungus") and all the Mephits from Dust to Steam all being under Mephit, but the dragons and giants and naga separated by type? And why are the age categories for Shadow and Faerie Dragon...

What is/are your most recent TTRPG purchase(s)?

I've had the Goodman Reincarnated 1-5 and 7... and figured that, even if I had never run or been through T2-4, I would regret not having #6 some day. The two-volume boxed set of Hommlet and the Temple of Elemental Evil arrived today.

D&D General How would you make this ruling? Vortex Warp

This was going to be my suggestion. --- If the ruling is emphatically that there is no way it works, I am now wondering about a Jonah and the (friendly) Whale technique to teleport a large number of people at one time (and their boat too if it is a big enough whale).

D&D 5E (2024) Undersized Performance from Gargantuan Monsters?

"The tarrasque is a bipedal, prehistoric Monstrosity that stands over seventy feet tall." I will agree to that :-) The picture and description makes me think it is more doing it by being big and stompy instead of being a cuisinart using lots of hits with its legendary actions. Which makes...

For the Tarrasque, what is the best distance besides magical missile weapons (magic long bow or whatnot)?

D&D 5E (2024) Undersized Performance from Gargantuan Monsters?

Was surprised the the PF 1e Tarrasque damage also wasn't great (although the bite had a much expanded crit range). The reach was a lot bigger though (30 ft, with 60ft for tail).

D&D 5E (2024) Undersized Performance from Gargantuan Monsters?

Hadn't looked up the hit points of objects in it for 5e before... In the free rules, anyway, a resilient cart or dining room table (Large) has 27 hit points, so the siege monster lets a Tarrasque or Kraken break them with one hit... but the Dragon Turtle and Roc don't get siege monster. For...

D&D 5E (2024) Undersized Performance from Gargantuan Monsters?

Continuing through the 2024 MM, it brings up some things that haven't changed much. One of them is that the reach and damage of the Gargantuan creatures seems woefully small compared to their descriptions. I get the desire for game balance and fun, the big hp totals and defenses some of them...
